Quite a good question... There's 26 recent rep players (2003 SoO level and above) left to choose from. Plus the Orfords, Morrisons, and Skandalises out there.

Gidley, Clinton and Waterhouse all made the train-on squad, so presumably you'd have them in there. Vilisanti, Heagrty and Carlaw all played for Australia in 2003 but not since.

Then you could look at the other guys who played origin this year: Hornby, De Vere, O'Hara, Kite, Tahu, Stevens, Gasnier (NSW); Wesser, Hodges, Flannery, Prince, C Smith, Ross, Norton, Parker. Then you could throw in guys like Hannay, Anasta, Josh Perry, Luke Bailey, Phil Bailey (from 2003 Origin).

Still don't think it would compete with GB or NZ first choice teams though...

Oh, sorry, let me just grab a tissue for poor old Hodgson and Schicofske. Ben Hornby will be around for many years to come playing rep footy while Hodgson and Schicofske will be looking back at their carreers in retirement from 2006 dreaming about those Rep jerseys that got away.

These two only ever stand out because they play in two very, very ordinary teams. But in the big leagues they don't stand a chance.
