It’s not McGregor’s fault he’s failing, he was left with a dud of a roster from that St George bloke Steve Price.

McGregor clearly needs more support staff but from what I hear the St George side is not willing to put in any more cash to buy the staff..

Good coaches make rosters work - regardless of the cattle.
If FG is limp, they promote talented youngsters.
Good coaches also attract top line players.
We only get top echelon if we pay through the nose for them or if the exit club subsidizes the player's contract.
Let's face it, after 5 years there are no more excuses left and yet we see the same mistakes being made by the Head Coach... ever week, every season.
He should have been gone after 2016 or at least 2017 and yet here we still are.

As I have previously pointed out to you, premierships..

St George have never won a premiership without Illawarra as part of the region..

Even our most recent triumph had majority Illawarra juniors..

We should all feel honoured to have such a wonderful nursery carrying our club..

Illawarra juniors are not restricted to play only with Saints. You will find that many clubs have signed juniors from Illawarra. It has always been the case that Saints provide the majority of development funding in the Illawarra.

Thats great that they won, but winning the SG Ball doesnt indicate that they're carrying the JV at all, from that team we may get 1-3 players that may progress to play NRL, i looked at SGBall/Matts teams from all NRL teams from2012(which i posted in one of the threads), the conversion to 1st grade was on average 2 players from a 25+ man squad so as i said i wouldnt call it carrying the JV , you posted to antagonise others posters so you could get a reaction.

The Illawarra was always a nursery for St George and then 1 day they thought they could be as good as if not better than them and launched the Illawarra Steelers
They decided to have a crack on their own and it failed miserably.
Their effort to be bigger, brighter, better than and to show St George a lesson and the subsequent failure to do so caused upheaval in what had been a 1st class and genuinely productive partnership.
The business model of the Illawarra Steelers was flawed from day 1 and the business acumen of those concerned was shown to be poor.
Despite failure and causing catastrophic damage to an iconic brand there are still simple fools who believe the Illawarra Club is St George's saviour.
There wouldn't be a St George fan alive that didn't acknowledge the contribution that the Illawarra as a region has played in its success but far too many Illawarra people get confused between the region and the club.
The club was always a shambolic mess and they now bring that same shambolic behaviour to the JV and are like an albatross around the neck of a once proud club.
Did players from the Illawarra region help St George get to and stay on top well there is no doubt that is true.
Did the Illawarra Steelers make a fist of all that talent and become a force to be reckoned with on their own within the NRL, well I'll leave that to Muzby and others to answer.

Yet both StGeorge and Illawarra teams in the juniors are featured on the StGeorge Illawarra Dragons OFFICIAL web site and Ian Millward discuss on a regular basis about the players in both teams.

My argument is the Steelers are the only part of the JV delivering success in this area, as evidenced by the now deleted first post in this thread.
