Here's mine. . . .

2005LukeHarlen.jpg

PLAYER PROFILE - LUKE HARLEN

Position: Prop/ second row

DOB: 28-1-1984

Weight/height: 103kg, 188cm

Birthplace: Townsville

Junior Club: Townsville Centrals

First grade games in 2004: none
Personal: Former Queenslander who has arrived at the Sharks after a stint at Penrith. Harlen, who’s nickname is Stumbles, enjoys taking it easy and getting down to the beach when away from football.

In 2005: Was the Panthers best in the Jersey Flegg semi final when his team was beaten by the Sharks, Harlen is a big, strong running youngster with plenty of aggression in his game. Will challenge seriously for a first grade berth.

Just wondering, what do you base this on. Going by his birthday, Harlen would have been close to the oldest player in all of Jersey Flegg last season. You would hope he would have done well. I am yet to see him play, so I can't really form an opinion. What gives me hope is that he was with Langy at Penrith, who is notoriously slow at promoting young players.

Going on players I've seen, I'll stick with Galloway, as he has achieved a fair bit at a young age. For guys who haven't cracked first grade yet, my tip is Luke Douglas. I thought he was brilliant in the Flegg final, especially as he was playing up an age group.

Keith Galloway could be anything if he gets some mongrel into him.
He's starting to fill out quite nicely into the Paul Harragon mould for height and build.
But he definately needs to get more aggressive with his hitups and become a more punishing defender.
I think he's been out of high school for a couple of years now so time to mix it with the best of them.

He was a bit of a hit merchant for Flegg in 03. I think he has it in him, but didn't quite have the confidence to unleash in the top grade.

Galloway is lacking mongrel, he is as big as Tallis, if he showed that mongrel we would be laughing, he needs personal trainer bring ole Tommy Raudonikis in before a game to give him a rev

My tip is Jon Green.

was on the borderline of making 1st grade last year b4 he injured his knee. has been training well and if he remains injury free will play a lot of first grade this year

Matt Hilder, yep you will all say his been playing first grade 2 years yes he has, but this year will be break through year, he got through his 2nd full season, which is often the hardest this year, rep honours loom, playing in the backrow, as 80 min player, he will take his game to a new level

Jon Green for mine. The way some people were creaming their pants over him last year it was a wonder he wasn't already playing.

It sounds like he has a pretty promising future.

As for Harlen, I hear he's a bit of an aggro bastard and loves a bit of biff. He is exactly what we're looking for. I'd like to see him push for firsts this year too.

And I don't think he'll be a superstar but I would really like to see Pelo get a run this year.

He's got a bit of attitude in defence and quite a stocky tackle breaking style when he runs the ball. Wouldn't mind seeing him get a go as fullback in Premier League and being groomed for Peach's job.

Dumas - Big, strong, aggressive, mobile. Plenty of competition in the back row - but I just like the impact this bloke has in defence. Will earn lots of respect from opposing forwards....

Dumas- from what I've seen of him so far he could be our next rep player :) he has a good all round game runs hard, off loads and defends like a Demon.

Saw him at the club, he has certainly bulked up.

Dumas for mine.
He deadset annihilates in defence. Can't wait to see it again.

I agree Dumas is a big chance too. Hopefully these guys, Green, Dumas and Harlen are with us long term. How good was it when we had the best pack in the comp.
