I think what you are REALLY trying to say SS is poor form from Reefy to bring Rogers into it.

The forum is supposed to be there for supporters to post interesting things about the club. It's turning a bit spiteful, people are bagging fellow posters for doing what they think is a service to fellow forum users. Most things posted are whispers or possibilities, but there are a few members who just want to shoot these people down at every chance. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, lets be in it together for the benefit of everyone in the forum.

Reefy certainly doesnt email or bug Steve Rogers
and before I get accused of it, neither do I

And while we're on the topic, Frenzy actually knows Sludge and has done so for a long time, so I think he's got as much right to email him as anyone else on here

I dont know why anyone would stick the boot in to Frenzy for then passing on a tip on here, particularly after all the whingeing of last week about keeping rumours to oneself
Sounds like youre damned if you do, and damned if you dont if youre Frenzy

And I cant even see what the bloke has done to offend everyone so greatly - he's not even on the forum any more, cant we just let it slide? For what it's worth I've had a bit to do with him and I can certainly vouch for the fact that he's a top bloke

I agree Sideline Eye. Unfortunately there will be no resolving of the situation while one party won't communicate with the other.

So, back to the point...

Why DO we miss out on good players?

Is it because of Sludge's lack of business skills, is it because we lack a noted coach with a proven NRL record, is it because of our location, is is because of our board full of self-important w@nkers, is it because our supporters accept a mediocre record in big games?

What?

I've given my SERIOUS two-bobs' worth. I do think the board interferes a bit too much, and I think Sludge gets 'had' occasionally by other CEOs and clever player managers. Doesn't mean I don't love the bloke, just means I worry about his ability to approach negotiations with his head, instead of his heart and his soul.

For the record I have no issues with any sharks forummers or ex forummers.
Dimitri and the red v child are a different matter.

I am not into groups hugs either.

On topic

IMO there was one player really worth chasing this year - Lockyer - of which we had little chance.

I am not unhappy with our playing roster for 2005.
I proven 5/8 would be good.
A left centre come winger would have been OK.
Another big bopper would help also.

As I have said before seems to me we had a lot of young talent to sign, and we have signed most of them.

sorry to wade off topic again

but it's also poor form to have a shot at someone who isnt on here to respond
the issue should be dead, i dont know how it keeps getting revived

sorry about that

Good call, Angry.

Nobody is making any noise about the Ciraldos of the squad...Kids like him will be core members of our squad with a bit more time in lower grades.

We have to remember, not EVERY 19 year old who lines up for us is as good as Hilder, or even Bird.

But it's no good having a team of champions, if you're not a champion team. NOT every bloke in 1st grade is going to be an elite player (which I think Hilder will become). BUT, that doesn't make them also-rans either.

A guy like Paul Mellor is a good example. Never really showed up on the 'superstar' radar, yet at his peak he was a damn solid player for us who wore more numbers on his back while playing in a Sharks jersey than I have ever seen. Filled in all over the place. From memory, he wore #2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, and 16. Maybe even some different bench numbers.

No good having a bunch of gifted but injury-prone or unstable susperstars! (read: Gasnier, Growthe Jr, Blacklock, Hodges, Kennedy, even our own Peach and M. Rogers fit either of those categories).

Let's build a TEAM. Let's buy players that take us toward that goal. NOT the Vaganas of the world.

having said that, El Mazri would be OK, purely for his kicking!

maybe it's as simple as some players just don't want to come here or prefer to go somewhere else or get a more attractive offer.

we've got to remember that to most non-sharks fans cronulla actually ISN'T the centre of the known universe - footballing or otherwise.

Another thing is that those at the club reckon top players arent keen to switch clubs at the moment unless they are paid well over what they are worth. I'd prefer to keep a level head in the playing market at the moment than pay 400K for Tahu, 330K for Riddell or 300K for Kite.

(Then again Amos Roberts and Monaghan would no doubt only be playing for 40K, keen to join a winning side...)

Maybe we should look at raiding the union ranks, that pacific islander team had talent oozing through it :)

I have has my self that question why we are missing out on big name players, when you see Amos Roberts go to the Roosters, where he will do it tough to make first grade, if he comes to sharks nearly has walk up start not just to winger but chance at both 5/8 or fullback, he is just one example, Mark Riddle would be another, is the reason, not having a well known first grade coach i say no, why would players be flocking to Parramatta with the way Brian Smith has coached last couple of years, 2 reasons I have is the way we conduct our player contracts or the amount we pay, I still believe the best signing for us would be (a) either the Bronco's or Roosters accountant, or maybe Adam Scubert from Roosters, Ian's son the Salary Cap Auditor, Brett Finch as well Robert Finch's son head of referees
