my theory: the aim in golden point is to kick a field goal, which means you have to be in good field position.

If you take the kickoff and put on a very strong defensive set, then you're likely to get the ball in good field position.

If you receive the kickoff, then it's going to be very hard to make 70 metres in 5 tackles to be in a good enough position for a shot at field gal on the last.

I think the decision to take the kickoff was a good one; it was just a very unfortunate time for Vaealiki to get injured.

Man he did it to try and hold the shakrs into their own terrirotry to prevent them getting anywhere at taking a feild goal, if lex hadnt of went down well whos to say we woulndt of won its just our lack of luck coming back to bite us on the arse

but in saying that we shud of put nulla away earlier

All the brainless twits blaming Wagon should pull their heads in a realise it was NOT his decision - he may have been at the coin toss, but ANY decision like that comes from the sideline - and if you actually watch the TV footage of the game you can see he looks to the side after winning the toss to find out what to do.

If you want to blame anyone, blame the coach - why the f**k not you all blame him for everything else - global warming, the war in Iraq - add kicking off in golden point time to the list you bitching pack of pansies!!!

Wagon was probably our best player last night - his one on one defense was simply awesome - if the rest of the team could do that regularly we'd piss in every game.....infact nearly our entire defnsive effort last night was great - Cronulla scored 38 points against Canberra who are a good defensive side and right up the top of the ladder - The Sharks may have had a shit start to the year, but they are improving and keeping them to a low score was a good effort.

Yet all you bitching tossers have to find someone to blame eh!!!!....Gotta make yourselves feel better by pointing the finger at someone.

I don't think anyone should be blamed for that decision. Yeah we can say 'what if' but what's the point? It's a matter with no importance and could have gone either way.

How many times in a game do a team make an error? I bet its alot more than the amount of 100 metre team tries per game.

im not blaming anyone and i did not see the game only heard it on the radio and very rarley if at all do i bitch at the team especially wagon (who made 44 tackles by the way probably the best defance of any 5/8 in the nrl) who i believe we fortunate to have in the team.

all i was doing is raising a valid question

Its simple really.

You CANNOT score points in Rugby League if you DO NOT HAVE THE BALL.

So why in the f*** would you give the ball to the OTHER team.

Who's to say we wouldn't have made a line break in the first set of six.

That was just pathetic.

I've said it before.....it was the right decision regardless of the result, if Cronulla had knocked on from the kick off or there abouts Wagon would be hailed as a messiah, the reason why Cronulla scored is because Sullivan exploited a injured Vaealiki!!!

If if if.

They shouldn't have had the friggin ball in the first place and Cronulla proved WHY you do not give the opposition ANY chance in Golden Point.

Fair dinkum......that was just a stupid brain explosion.

Strongly disagree. It was an error of judgement. It was a brave decision which could have payed of but didn't. No use complaining about it. I can see the logic behind Wagon deciding to kick off, it didn't work out yes, but there's no need to be bitter about it.

A honest question for you all

Did you really think Cronulla who hadn't put much pressure on Parra all night would score in the first set of 6 in extra time??...i couldn't!!

What you guys are forgetting or glossing over is that it was great work by Hilder and Sully and Vagana that led to the try. Kicking off or not kicking off is irrelevant. One Sharks knock on or error deep in their own territory and the game goes the other way.

I agree with Ron Jeremy. Go figure.

I just think it was dumb.
And we agree. It was an error of judgement.

No........... I didn't think it was possible.
But why give them the chance?

Thats true. But it didn't happen. In hindsight it is easy for me to say that.

The point is........THEY HAD THE BALL AND WE DIDN'T SO THE CHANCES OF THEM SCORING POINTS WERE BETTER THAN OURS. And WE chose to give them the ball. That makes it even more stupid.

IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE.

I guess the thing is this: where doyou want to be at the end of the first set of 6? In posession, you will have rucked it back toward halfway and then either kicked deep, run it, or potted for goal. Or got a piggy back penalty, a 40/20 or whatever. Facts are that there are more chances of gaining advantage with the ball than without. How many penalties gan you get in defence? Sweet FA.

Strider, are you asking for people to criticise the coach? Because when we do, you launch into your silly tirades anyway.
