One Sharks knock on or error deep in their own territory and the game goes the other way.

Thats true. But it didn't happen. In hindsight it is easy for me to say that.

The point is........THEY HAD THE BALL AND WE DIDN'T SO THE CHANCES OF THEM SCORING POINTS WERE BETTER THAN OURS. And WE chose to give them the ball. That makes it even more stupid.

IT REALLY IS THAT SIMPLE.

Suity

It's not that simple at all. Ever heard of tactics? It was a gamble. It didn't pay off. So what? These things happen.

The Sharks may have had a sh*t start to the year, but they are improving and keeping them to a low score was a good effort.

So.....its fine to lose as long as we don't let the other team score many points.

Spare me.
I'm glad our players don't have that attitude. We'd never win the comp.

Yes....I've heard of tactics.
I've also heard of lotteries.

No one has yet denied that you CANNOT win without the ball.
So why give it to the other team to try and win first.
Its just plain dumb.

You cannot win without the ball yes, but there is a rule in rugby league called a changeover. It occurs after the defending side successfully defends for 6 tackles. At that point they normally recieve the ball and then become the attacking side. It happens in most games of footy. It could have happened last night in extra time but it didn't. I wouldn't say it was a lottery. If the odds of winning the lottery were equal of that to succesfully defending for a set of six i'd be be a millionaire.

I guess it is worth asking why, with almost the NRL's best attack, and worst defence, we elect to defend?

All I have heard in defence of this argument is if's and could have's.
You still didn't answer my question.

WHY give them first chance of winning?

Suity,

You’re going to need to ask Daniel Wagon on that one, I don't think any one else can answer your question.

But from what I hear on Sports Ears he also wanted confirmation on how to win the game, the Ref came back with first team to score a point, field goal, goal, try whatever”

I am sure that fills you with confidence.

I believe you are wrong about that.....I saw and heard the referee say that when I watched the FOX reply on Sunday and he WAS NOT talking to Wagon when he said it - he was talking to Phil Bailey.

Sorry but to me your argument is based on the same principle. 'if' we decided to recieve the ball then we 'could have' won. There's no use speculating.

I agree with the move. Kick off, keep em in the 30m, get the bacll from the kick and run it into their half and give Dykes or Morris or burt a shot at firld goal.

Life doesn't always turn out the way you want it, but you gotta roll the dice sometimes or you are a coward.

Hey Misty, nice to see you back. Coincedence that it happened as soon as we lost a game? lol

Suity, give it a rest.

I will now, because nobody can logically explain why we would let Cronulla have first chance of scoring points in a sudden death, first points scored wins, situation.
It is dumb.........just plain dumb football.

a few of you have mentioned this already, but on reflection it deserves much more credit i reckon:

Vaeliki falls over with a season ending injury and Sullivan exploits the huge gap that opened up in the defensive line.

This is a huge piece of bad luck and absolutely noone can be blamed. We can remind the Sharks supporters that they won the game under a set of freak circumstances but it wouldn't change much.

The facts are that we should have put the Sharks away alot earlier in the 2nd half anyway.

What is the rule on injurys in extra time. Should the clock have been stopped or are they not allowed too?
