Look mate... i admire your passion about spreading the game of League in an outpost like WA.
but what kind of idiot PM's me that sh*t... grow up and keep it on the boards you clown...
im just pointing out to you the fact that most Kiwi's have been exposed to Rugby for much longer than you decided to jump on the League bandwagon.
thats why you have NFI...
You no f*ck all 'Bro'!Stop making sh*t up, i didnt say that... RL has as much right to call itself Rugby as Rugby does... BOTH are Rugby... you can call RL Rugby if you wish, they do so in the North of England.. However in other places RL is just League or Rugby League..
and the most salient point in your post "To me"... that makes it your opinion... it doesnt make it fact based on history.
Rugby had the name first.. thats why they use it... and people on here defend the game because they like or love it... despite what some dumbarse aussies on here think, it is possible to love more than one sport.
Because the rah rahs re-wrote history and called their world cup the 'Rugby (Sic) World Cup' when RL had it BEFORE them in 1954!Union was there first. League is an offshoot of union. Therefore why shouldn't Union get to keep the name?
.
Genuine question, not trolling or anything.
In Australia I was told it was Rugby Union.
In NZ it seems to be call Rugby.
In the UK it is Rugby Union, again to differentiate from Rugby League, yet I keep seeing Australian's stating the game as simply 'Rugby', when RL is as much rugby as RU.
In northern England, 'Rugby' is RL.
not according to the IRBNo.. you are showing your ignorance.. its full name is Rugby football not Rugby Union football... it is colloquially now known as Rugby Union.. but its name IS Rugby.
not according to the IRB

Well its obvious i know more than you... but then there are severally geniused psych patients who have had frontal labotomies who know more than you do... to call you a moron would be insulting to morons. You no f*ck all 'Bro'!
god your a Nimrod... my argument was that your average kiwi was following Rugby long before you started following League.I bet ive been follow RUGBY LEAGUE longer than you f*ckwit.
thats true... just like they are called the International Rugby Union Board... the English are the Rugby Union Football Union and the every four years they play for the Rugby Union world cup..
oh wait... thats not right...
yet the website says they are the ruling body of the game of RUGBY UNION!
And thats used colloquially to differentiate the game... it has as many references to Rugby as it does to Rugby Union....
From the "definitions" in the IRBs bylaws:
Game
means rugby football played in accordance with the Laws of the Game
I dont see "Union" in there anywhere...
Nothing colloquial about it,
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/colloquial
the definition says it is a charistaristic or informal use which would be "rugby" in this case,
clearly the formal term is Rugby Union as stated in the IRB site[/LEFT]
IRB Organisation
The International Rugby Board (IRB) was founded in 1886. With its headquarters in Dublin, the IRB is the world governing and Law making body for the Game of Rugby Union. The IRB has several main functions including:
No.. you are showing your ignorance.. its full name is Rugby football not Rugby Union football... it is colloquially now known as Rugby Union.. but its name IS Rugby.
R.League is a branch off, of Rugby. So we must come up with an original name. Anyway, do we want to be named after an English Private School ?
Te Haka doesnt like anybody calling his beloved rugger 'Union'. News for you pal, millions do use the term UNION to DIFFERENTIATE from RUGBY League!!!!
So, the IRB is wrong?

Feel free to take it up with them.
While i agree that both codes can and should use the "rugby" as their name, League doesnt have an equal claim. Both rugby league and rugby union have equal claim to the word "rugby" - they are both descendants of the sport of rugby football
