Why do people hate on Mitchell Pearce

It's a great question Lucas con, but from lurking on this forum for a while now and contributing as of now, reading back through most threads I can see possibly just a few who know what they are talking About re this game. All I see is this crap like "eat a f**kin dick your shit" or this bloke is shit, or he has no idea what his doing? Or that bitch is gunna lose- like seriously are we in a kindergarten forum here- what the hell is all that crap about??? I would suspect that these types would never have laced a boot on, or played at some sort of serious level, because if they did they would understand that Pearce is the best 7 in NSW by a country mile, the bloke is that tough and does so much off the ball that these types would not even know what they are looking at let alone what that means.

So to your question, he is by far and away the best 7 we have.

These 5 players that you mention don't make him constantly kick the ball down the full backs throat. These 5 players don't make him consistently take the wrong option in attack.

For the record, I blame the selectors more than I blame Mitchell Pearce.

He's kicking down the fullbacks throat because the f**king fullback is Billy Slater or Greg Inglis, who are f**king incredible and very few if any halfbacks not named Cooper Cronk or Jonathan Thurston, are able to find ground against them

It has EVERYTHING to do with those 5 players

JT, Smith and Cronk are able to win the field position battle with their own kicking games, which means Pearce is kicking usually in bad spots and kicking to Inglis/Slater who both happen to be two of the best athletes and best positional fullbacks in the game and routinely take balls on the full or on the first bounce.
Honestly, how can anyone who watches RL say that having the games best halfback, five-eighth, fullback, centre and hooker doesnt have a huge impact on the ability of the opposition halfback to operate effectively?
Madness.

The reality is Mitchell Pearce is hated because he's not good enough to win SOO series. And the reason he isnt good enough is because the best 5 players in the game all play for QLD, and i'd argue 10-15 of the best 20 players play for QLD.
Until that changes, Pearce, Mullen, Reynolds, Carney, who ever else you want to try, they will fail.

It doesnt matter what NSW do, QLD will keep winning until such time that Cronk, Smith, JT, Slater and Inglis either retire, or slow down to a level where they arent the best 5 footballers on the field.
It's that simple.

Could all these Pearce haters point to the NSW eligible half back who is better than Pearce?

It can't be Adam Reynolds, who is a flop even at club level. It can't be Carney who is a specialist five eighth and not even that impressive in that position these days.

Incidentally Pearce is one of the best defensive scrum halves in the NRL (unlike Carney and Reynolds) and the second fastest (behind Shaun Johnson) -- which is why his cover defence is so splendid.

There isnt a single half in the history of RL who doesnt have a hilariously bad "OMFG, i cant believe i just did that" moment. Inlcuding Lewis, Johns, Mortimer, Sterling, Langer, Stuart, Daley etc al.

quoting that gif as if it's some sort of irrefutable evidence the guy cant play, says more about your ability to analyse football, than it does me

People don't hate him, they hate that he's an automatic pick for Origin despite having done absolutely nothing to deserve it.

Most halves in contention for NSW have had a shot at some stage and haven't been able to dominate QLD. Reynolds is probably the only one who hasn't had a shot but look how he's been shown up.

Shown up? Do you mean because of the last few rounds?
Mitchell Pearce played like complete shit for 2 years and no one else even got a look in.

This makes it sound like Pearce has starch, or maybe he's a dubious campaigner.

The hate at club level is just silly, hyperbolic and sloppy seconds from Origin.

At Origin level, he is an absolute butthole. A dirty, dirty butthole.

He's been given more chances than anyone in NSW history. The only thing he is consistent at is losing. He's an above average first grade halfback but has never been, is not and will never be origin material.

Yeah Pearce just has 12 Origin games worth of them and none in the other direction. Those players you quoted have hours of highlight reels in club, origin and test footy. Pearce has shit all except for a few good plays at club level (but no more really than the average half).

When you need him to stand up the most he doesnt. He goes missing. Grand final last year. State of origin. Even on the weekend all he did was bomb it to hiku. Hardly creative.

The video speaks for itself.

Brooks is a few years off maybe being at that level.

Mullen is the textbook case of why you don't rush a half in

I honestly dont care. SOO is such a f**king shit time of year these days. The papers go crazy, fans become idiots, and the beat up is absurd. I like the games, if i could have my way, the teams would get picked and everyone would just STFU about it and we'd just enjoy a good game

I dont have a dog in this race, the SOO thing gives me the shits. But blues fans thinking a change of halfback from Pearce to any other eligable NSW halfback, will result in a change of fortunes, are absolutely living in denial.

Pick Pearce, or dont pick Pearce. It doesnt matter and i dont really care. He's the best NSW has got IMO, and he's not good enough because the QLD team hosts the best 5 players in the world and 5-10 of the next best 20.
