Blind Freddy can see that they are the ones that should be dropped but Mary has no faith in the juniors. And to think Mary was a gun centre in his day and as a coach cannot pick a decent centre to win a game of footy. In seriousness though if Mary dropped one of the 2 Maranta will get the nod and they are better than Maranta. I Think that is what is keeping them there.

If only he gave Garrick and Lomax a run last season in the centres. They would surely be better than these 2 with more games under their belts.

It’s no wonder our good juniors are leaving, whilst McIdiot is coach there is no pathway to first grade.
The Board only has to look at the players that left for a chance to play first grade are actually achieving that elsewhere.

Lomax and Rava ... worth a try ... i mean we are losing anyway and our for and against doenst matter.

Not sure if it is the answer or if it would work - it would be asking a lot of Rava - but it is worth a try. Have Lafai or Aitken being one of our bench players to cover if Rava implodes, but it is worth trying. After this week we only have five weeks to go, experiment please. Mary still trots out the delusional, “ if we win the next six games,”. There will not be any mathematical possibility after this week. Thank god Mary will not be able cling onto that old chestnut.

2016 Lafai played 16 weeks of absolute rubbish before Mary FINALLY had no choice but to drop him for Milne who was killing it in reserve grade. Milne was an instant improvement yet the second Mary had a chance to bring Lafai back he did.
Last couple of years we had Patrick Herbert killing it in reserve grade but couldn't get a look in.
Now we have Lomax and Mary is pushing him to wing, fullback, anywhere but his natural position to protect Lafai and Aitken.
It's beyond comprehension and it drives me fricken bonkers.

Aitken - 2yrs ago someone said he was a SOO contender, feasting on his inglis side step.

Lafai - was playing ok this year until he was injured, came back far too early from it.

The kindest reason one could give is that Mary does not want to risk a game by selecting in-experienced centres. The only trouble with this train of thought is that Aitken and Lafai are being selected and we a losing games anyway.

I disagree (in the case of Aitken). He is a genuine stinker. The talk about him and Origin was laughable. He has an absolute inability to count numbers and defend. This is before we even get into his 'passing game'. It is not just here and there, but every single game since Parra tore him apart several years ago and Radradra scored a hattrick down his side. Every coach has targeted that side since and nothing has been able to stem the tide.

There is something fundamentally wrong here. The clear issue has not been fixed, and we have had a stream of better candidates who do not even get an opportunity. Milne, Herbert, Garrick, Lomax, and the list goes on.

I also disagree that he was good last game. Watch the last play again. Playing alongside an 18 year old debutant who was promoted from Flegg, he left him out to dry. Aitken is marking the 3rd and 4th men in from the wing. When Souths inevitably sent the ball his way he had to sprint to where he should have been, requiring Saab to hold until he was unable to also cover his winger.

I'm not saying Aitken lost that game - we were woeful and should have lost by 30 - but the winning play was just another example of how he has been defending for years.

You need to look at that last play again. Saab made a split second decision to come in on aitken's man when Aitken had him covered, but the few seconds before that was the right side in coming over and getting set sat back and slid near their line and did not come up in one line to shut their sideways movement down. Thats Dragons footy. That is what cost us the game + the refs blind eye to saab getting his legs taken out from underneath him cause the souths players rushed up and stood still under the ball to make it look like they could not do anything or contest for ther ball. Rightly or wrongly in todays rules that is a penalty..i see it every week
