Why is perth bid so secretive?!

15k a game, in the context of growing the WA audience it isnt a stretch that we could see close to that with a successful NRl club in WA. So for all the bluster of a new Brisbane club value to FTA it didnt generate much more in new audience than a perth club could.
You'd have to be f**ked in the head to think a successful Perth NRL team will increase the overall ratings in Perth by 15k. Melbourne has had a successful RL team for 25 years in Australia's second largest market. They've only increased ratings by 4k.

Its a meh increase for ch9 and puts to bed that ch9 would be falling Ove themselves for another Brisbane team over elsewhere. It really hasnt added that much to their audience reach. They could just as well get nearly as many from a Perth club.

The average for Perth's 73 games on 9Gem in 2023 was 8k. That's an aggregate of 584k over the season. In order for a Perth-based team to increase the average to 18k it would need to generate an aggregate of 1.314m. If all of Perth's home games are played at 6pm Sun AEST then that means Perth could feature in 12 FTA games at most. Those 12 games would need to generate 730,000 extra viewers in Perth at an average of 60,833 per game. The average AwFuL game in Perth drew just 56k: Eagles 74k; Dockers 69k; non-Perth teams 45k.

You're f**ked in the head if you think that's possible.

In all likelihood, Perth would get 5-8 games on FTA.

sigh, you dont say. A local club is more popular, who'd have thought? The Fact remains with dolphins admission Ch9 only got an extra 15k new viewers on avg per game shown in Brisbane. That was despite 47% more local content shown, Broncos making the GF and Yr 1 hype of dolphins.

Perth could well get 10k a game new viewers if Ch9 lifts its game.
So we can add beisbane easts who will add 185k viewers to their games in Brisbane

or Perth who average 30k to their games in Perth

maths not your strong point eh

good thing we count national ratings and not just ratings in Brisbane... A game involving Perth NRL side will still rate well in NSW and QLD and will help grow the sport over time in WA. A Brisbane team will rate very well in QLD and well in NSW but no one will watch in WA and it won't grow the game. You will also just be double dipping the same audience who already watch NRL.

Mentioning tv ratings he’s shooting himself in the foot
He's now arguing that a Perth-based team will be watched by 60k people on 9Gem in Perth if it is given 12 FTA games. That's how much it would need to gemerate to bump Perth's average from 8k per game to 18k. He reckons a Perth based team can increase the overall average viewership by 10k. So he's banking on a Perth-based team generating almost twice as many viewers in Perth as the Storm get in Melbourne, despite the average AwFuL game generating 56k viewers in Perth. The bloke is a complete nutjob. Him and his mates don't live in the real world.

Who does?! Do advertisers want 10k in Perth over top rated show in Brisbane?! Clearly broadcasters value the latter. They've said they want more qld teams..

If they had class would own their failed predictions
It’s funny seeing them being wrong on just about every single topic though

So you would fake Perth which adds 30k viewers to the game rather than Brisbane easts which adds 185k

???

Doesn’t compute

This is complete bullshit.

To argue that a Perth-based team will match the average rating in Brisbane is so dumb it makes me wonder if you went to a special school.

Brisbane's overall average of 111k means there were games that generated less than 111k viewers. There's no guarantee that a Perth-based team will generate 111k viewers in Brisbane. I have no interest in watching a Perth-based team play on TV. I doubt I'm the only one. If Perth struggle on the field then their average FTA viewership in Brisbane could be 70k or less: especially if they're playing against the Raiders, Warriors, Knights or the Sea Eagles.

lol "we think there's room for another team in QLD" does not mean "we want Brisbane 3 next"

Perth average viewers 15k per game
Perth get an nrl team new average 30k for Perth games

qld average ratings 170k
Qld average ratings after the dolphins 185k

@Perth Red see they are the same

lmao
geez some people are so thick on here lol. Yes in terms of new audience reach they are exactly the same! In terms of aggregate increase of Ch9 viewers in the city they are exactly the same!
How can it be so hard to understand that an avg 15k a game increase is the same whichever city it is in!
