Population the problem? What about Melbourne Storm look at melbournes population and they struggle to get 18k at a game. Not to metion so many Sydney clubs and Auckland. Having a team in CQ would be huge for the area and more ppl would flock to the area. Between Rocky,Gladstone, BunderBurg and surrounding areas there's over 200k ppl In the area. But the big difference between say the storm and having a CQ side would be the juinour development and developmeing NRL quality players. Build a stadium In CQ and you will get 15k-20k a game in the first 5 years but population will grow inthe city of rocky And CQ but the big winner will be getting juniors to carry on and keep playing and putting more quality players in the competition something Melbourne hasn't achieved and won't and something that would take a long time In Perth or Adelaide if they were to get teams. CQ is RL HeartLand when will the NRL and Sydney Siders finally get it. Some same there's not enough quality players to expand CQ is the answer to create more players and expand.

The difference is that Qld is arguably already sufficiently invested in Rugby League. They have 3 teams, and yet currently contribute less players to NZ, who only have 1 team.

The question for a CQ bid is what it would contribute from a growth perspective? How would it grow the Rugby League market? Sure, Melbourne should do better, but it's an intensely parochial AFL and soccer town, but having the Storm there ensures exposure for our game in the country's second biggest city.
