Our back three:
Stewy, Hicks and Robbo are all fantastic under the high ball, they are all solid in defence. They are all capable of breaking the line with Hicksy being sensational at tackle busts. All have speed to burn and 3 of the best in open field. They have all showed they are also capable of handy ball playing. How many times has Stewy put someone into the corner from a 2nd man play, Robbo has put Stewy straight the middle several times this year with most recent being against the roosters. Hicks also set up a try against the Roosters with a great cross field run and pin point ball.
Our Centres:
The Steves! - These two are by far our most potent attacking players. Belly can hit any whole at speed, hes that good he creates his own with them cross field angling runs. Mr Matai, dangerous to the opposition with his bone rattling tackles, great with the ball and out of dummy half, showed on the weekend he can show up any defender with that big step of his. Belly is a great one on one defender.
Our Number SIX
Yea, Jamie Lyon is a danger to the enemy. He is slowly coming into form, we will need this running into the finals. An under the radar Lyon is exactly what we need to take the pressure off Monas and Ox. Very sound in defence also. A real weapon to be unleashed.
Orford
If he keep that form he showed against the Roosters, watch out. His hole running was magnificent, set up same great plays, showed he is back to his goal kicking best. He has a point to prove, he is noted as a big game choker He is out to prove them all wrong
King and Kite.
Have been top notch for Manly all season. King is extremely under-rated and is always their in attack and defence. We all know what Kite is capable of.
Back Row
Menzies, Williamson, Stewart, Watmough - All capable of playing 80 minutes - Des has a good headache here. Watmough had been the form 2nd rower of the comp this year,, individually, our best attacking weapon. Glenn Stewart has been great in A and D, has a good offload aswell. Menzies, been there and done it, knows what it takes, wants this premiership so bad. Williamson is a defending machine and will never let you down.
MICHAEL MONAGHAN - \
He is the heart and soul of our great Manly team. Nobody in the NRL wants this years premiership more than he does. Brilliant in attack, good defender, Can pull something out when it is needed to get us over the line.
The Bench
We have a solid and capable bench.
Cuthbertson has to be there at the end, getting better and better every week and he has to possess the best offload in the NRL.
Bryant/Hall - Not spectacular players, but both get down and dirty and give 100% to get the results for Manly.
The Coaching Staff
Des Hasler has played at the greatest heights of Rugby League, playing SOO in the hard men days. He knows what it takes to play and win tough footy. He will have the boys ready come September.
Geoff Toovey - Much like Des. He has also captained his country and state. Played in the last Manly GF, will still be hurting after that loss. His presence on the field is worth a million dollars. Great Motivation for the players.
