Why Queensland have won eight straight

My forefathers were those that sat at Lang Park during those multiple floggings by our own players and these grand gentlemen will not allow that fire to burn out.

And nor should they.

Stark reminder was given to our state that eight years is paltry. NSW held the interstate trophy from 1959 until the first Origin contest.

We will never let up, we will never stop. Mercy is for the weak.

And yet Qld were openly begging for concessions after losing 3 series, Gordy Tallis was quoted as saying Origin was dead and Qld begged to be allowed to sign GI even though he wasn't eligible.

Your ignorance is pathetic and your arrogance will be your undoing.

Not really, it is part of our culture. Boys and girls in our state grow up dreaming of representing Queensland.

We will not stop in our endeavours just because it means much less so for you.

 A sellout crowd tonight. Blatchy's Blues gets bigger every single home game. Just because we aren't crying about the imminent death of Origin after 3 series losses doesn't mean that it matters much less for us...

They have a few handy players that have had a little say in how things have gone.

But yeah, that and 30yr old pokies.

Yes, and this is EXACTLY what NSW are going to do in coming years. As you have said twice, you reap what you sow...

Well of course ... if Queensland every get arrogant about their winning streak it will come back and bite us. I certainly don't dispute that at all.

Link or it never happened.

We've been through this before on this forum.

Also Village, seems Qld aren't too fussy on who they select.

Just off the top of my head;

GI,
Adrian Lam,
Tonie Carroll,
Brad Thorn,
Israel Folau,
Nev Costigan,

You are kidding yourself and just making the fall even greater when the wheel turns...........
Craig Smith.

Have a look at yourself you prized pillock and the responses of your fellow Qlder's.

If its not naked arrogance then I don't know what it is.

May I remind everyone here - eight years ago Phil Gould wrote an article for a Sydney newspaper, almost demanding that Darren Lockyer stand aside from the Queensland side, and give another player an opportunity.

According to Mr Gould, Darren Lockyer was past his prime, washed up, not up to standard.

In the ensuing game, the NSW crowd watched aghast in the dying minutes of a gripping decider as Darren Lockyer swooped on a dropped NSW ball, ran about 12 metres and scored to give Queensland the win.

Darren Lockyer went on to captain Queensland in four of the next five series wins.

But that's not why Queensland have continued to dominate at State of Origin. It goes a little deeper.

Back in the 1970s and earlier, NSW financed by the poker machines that were outlawed in Queensland, poached Queensland's top players and paraded them in interstate games as NSWers, thrashing Queensland teams year after year. The arrogance. The lack of respect. Queensland got used to annual floggings at the hands of players nurtured and groomed in their own state.

There is a universal principal alive in the earth - you reap what you sow. It's as simple as that. NSW continue to reap. Get used to it.

Are you drunk?

And that sea of maroon is getting bigger and bigger every year in Sydney.

The NSW Government will not ignore all those dollars pouring in from north of the border. Expect it to continue to grow.

 Say what? You're comparing the fans of a side that have won for the last 8 years in a row with the fans of a side that have lost for the last 8 years in a row?

One series loss and that 'Sea of Maroon' will diminish greatly. And it's funny to see that people like Mortar still haven't lost that chip on the shoulder. I'd say that if it hasn't gone away after 8 series wins, it's never going away...

No, but I look at the bigger picture.

Ask the Queensland players what motivates them every year. They will talk about the old Queensland players who Meninga brings in to talk to the team - those who were flogged year after year by NSW teams which featured great Queensland players like Arthur Beetson and Rod Reddy.

NSW is reaping what it sowed. It's a universal principle.

You can complain about the principle. You can deny it. You can dismiss it. But you can't escape it.

The tide will turn. It always does.
As a Queensland supporter I'm just enjoying the ride while it lasts, know full well it will come to an end as these things always do. I thought it would have ended this year actually, happy to be wrong though.

Okay, cool. You have talked about NSW "reaping what it sows" three times now.

What makes you think the same isn't going to happen to Qld in the next decade or so, when the next generation of NSW players emerges?
