Why the Warriors won...

Because Souths are complete sh*t.

If we'd actually converted our chances we would (and should) have won by 30+. Ah well, a win's a win I guess.

Nah seriously, I thought they played pretty well.

Sure they bombed a few chances, but there was a marked improvement in go forward, defense, communication, kicking game...etc, which are all things that have been lacking in previous games.

I'm very happy with the effort, crap opposition or not.

I was very happy with the second half, notice the warriors played better when henry and thomas came on for martin and pual.....

the warriors won when....

martin went off and henry came on.
vatuvai into the centers.
tooks showed some real intensity
feka was incredible
ditto my MOM, koopu
meli had a good game but the best thing he has done all season was belt the bunny.he should be in the centres
vinnie should not be in the centers.
gutts was great, very organised.
te mata had a great defensive game
once villa got his act together he was good.

my only dissapointment was stacey.

thomas had a good game (he needed one)

Maybe I'm being a tad harsh, I guess there were some good things about this week's performance. Our defence was good after the first quarter, and we did create chances on attack (much down to Hohaia, who's kicking was excellent). However we bombed a hell of a lot of chances in the second half, as I said we should have won by at least 30. I thought Hohaia, Tookey, Anderson, Faafili and Lueluai all put their hands up, Vatuvei showed promise but also showed his inexperience, however he'll get another chance due to the fact Meli will be cooling his heels for a week or two and he'll get better. Has anyone else christened him "Sideshow" yet? Thats what everyone at my local pub is calling him!

Vatuvei looked good in the centres. I thought showed more promise than Tony Martin has all season. Pity Meli is about to be suspended or else I'd play him in the centres linking with Meli. That'd be one hell of a strong side to attack down.

I agree Ozbash, Stace wasn't at his best. But the kick for Vinnie Anderson was a cracker of a set move and well executed.

100% correct, no argument - Souths played like crap

Yet the Warriors only won by 14 points and are only 1 point ahead of Souths on the competition table

The spoon is ours no doubt about it, but the Warriors won't be far in front.

Considering all of the Warriors tries today came from kicks, your attack is looking pretty average when you can't even score a try from a backline movement against the team with the worst defence in the comp.

Don't worry Mr. Rabbit, I know we're pretty crap too. That was my point really, we didn't necesarily win because we were good, the opposition were just worse.

Well, not exactly a top 8 team out there yesterday but, jeez, it
was a much better "effort" from the Warriors. They looked, at times,
like they actually wanted to be there playing footy

Good to see the young blokes sticking their hands up. That's more
like the Te Mata I am used to watching. Manu, while he made a few
mistakes, had a solid first run. That pass to Meli was a beaut.

Awen had the best game he's had for a long time.

It has to give them at least a little confidence going up against the Roosters.

Cheers
Skinner

yes confidence breeds confidence, and we'll need bucket loads against the Roosters..

Tookey and Henry being on the field made the difference I reckon. Two minutes after Tooks came on we scored our 1st try, and then went on.
The thing I liked was that we all looked like we wanted to be there, something that has been missing. I can't think of anyone who didn't put in an effort in the game. Te Mata and Koopu together were outstanding in defence.
Tooks, Feka and moreso later in the game Villa, were hitting the line with impact. Villa's tackle on Watts for Stacey's try was great to see, a look into the past almost.
5 tries from 5 kicks is good to see.
Vatuvei did well for his first venture in top grade. Sure a bit of inexperience at times, but he redeemed himself many times over. The hit on Harrison was awesome..

We're not there yet, but getting there and I reckon this win will instill a lot of confidence back into the squad. Monday at the office will be better than last week!

I reckon Hame had his best game in a while. But he really is a terrible defender, I'm afraid. Any news on a shoulder injury?

They won because they are currently the 2nd worst team in the comp

Thats how you play an over zealous rushing defence. Get it wide, or put it behind them. Not rocket science. Just smart.
