I think Dean Widders deserves a big rap after his performance today i think it was Deano's best ever defensive game ive seen made 34 tackles and played his guts out.

Think he is starting to build his confidence back up and being rwarded with a run on spot has done him the world of good, onya Whizz! :D

Widders was good and it allowed O'Dwyer to come off the bench into the centres where he looked a hell of a lot more dangerous.

Yeah.......the whole combination worked better.

Gotta say I was glad to see Widders earn a pay check, but i wont get too carried away unitl he does it a few more times.

It was actually 38 tackles and best in the team!!

I think he made a huge difference to the team. I think he took a huge amount of workload of Nathan Hindmarsh and I think that helped Hindmarsh have more petrol in the tank for attack. With Cayless in the second row he provides the pack with great balance and I think he's gotta start week in, week out, while he's in his current form.

Yeah Hindmarsh only made 35 pretty poor effort really :D

Widders might finally be turning into a player who can start games after really only being a bench player until now

I musts say, when I saw that Widders was starting and O'Dwyer was on the bench (the latter did not shock me much; but Widders starting was a startling prospect), I could not understand the logic.

But Bravo Dean, and judos Brian - stroke of genius. Deano had a superb game.

Although how can we overlook one N. Hindmarsh after this performance?

Thought Spider Widders was sensational. It was only the Blabitohs, but we have now won last nine straight at the Graveyard.

Yo ho ho nine in a row.

Yes, I will join in the congrats for Widders. Widders did go well, but he would go a whole lot better coming off the bench. He is a specialist bench player and I think much more effective for the team coming off the bench.

You have to make a decision when playing Dean Widders. Whether you are happy with him playing a full game and making 38 tackles and doing alot of work, but really no huge worry for the opposition defence. Or whether you ecstatic with him coming off the bench after 20-25, making half the amount of tackles and causing absolute havoc to the oppositions defence.

If it were me, I would choose the latter, cause you can get someone else do to the early work that he did today.

Vella, Hindmarsh, Cayless and Widders really helped Morris and Dykes put the robbitohs away!

Widders has always been a great player off the bench. He showes yesterday that he can have the same effect as a starter. Good effort big Dean.

I believe one of the reasons Hindmarsh was so devastating that day was simply because Widders and Cayless helped smother the Rabbitohs attack between them, thus leaving enough energy for Hindmarsh to go on an attacking frenzy.

We need players like these to absorb the impact and help the defensvie capabilities to allow Hindmarsh to play his destructively effective attacking game.

But on the whole I tend to agree - Widders is very much an attacking player who is best off the bench.
