Must admit I wasn't a fan of us signing Willie when we did, but he's made me eat my words with interest. He's been great.

Thats the Knights i was xpecting to see this year and i was really pumped for u fella's as much as i was for Bennett, Darius, Bedsy, Willie, Snowden, and Timana watching them all hit a nice high gear in a really good effort and a huge win at home in front of an awesome 18K crowd on a freezing Mundy night

everyweek i hope the Knights have a dig, go well (xcept v STGI) and a couple of games recently ive thought WTF??!!!! is going on over there !

and i must admit at 0-14 i was facepalming and hoping it wouldnt be a rout evn tho' id taken Balmain in my tipping comps but then with the Cashmere/Snowy thing everything turned around and it was awesome to watch, i evn watched it again yesty

Willie and Snowden were great up front - ive always been a Mason fan and have enjoyed his contribution at your joint while Snowden is one of those old school blokes that ive always luvd watching. The big boys got good backing from Zeb Taia who ive always liked since his Parra days and Tetevano was solid as well as Joel Edwards, man i love watching that kid hit !! - Buderus was great as usual and Boyd had a breakout game that i hope can kickstart his form, i love watching him play that floating pivot/injector type role for u blokes while it was awesome watcxhing Timana hit form with a genuine hat trick of 3 in a row, i love watching Tahu when he is "on" and now i hope he keeps it going

Tyrone was very solid too as was Gagai who im real xcited to see at Newy and he has looked sharp in both his matches so far

it seems the adjustment to the realisation that Gidley is missing could be an xcuse that the Mundy performance has been sitting there waiting to be unleashed and while i enjoyed how the Knights beat Cronulla and Canterbury this year with that grinding style, which is a style i also love to watch, but that on Mundy nite shows there is more to Newy than just a grinding team

Good effort and good to see and now just hope the boys can keep it going for Benny and give us Dragoins some healthy competition for a finals spot :D

since Bennett was signed ive hoped the Knights have a good run under him and i follow the Knights close enough that i keep accross them by watching them every week as i do all teams, viewing the site/Newy Herald site and i get the Newy Herald, a day late, delivered on Tue/Wed/Fri and Satdy here in Dubbo

Good post mate but you should start using some proper grammar or spelling or some people on these forums are gonna hunt you down.

I think most of us on these forums are trying not to get too excited because most of us expect that this is more of a false dawn than a turn around. If we start putting a monday like performance week in week out for the next month, I think it'll have most of us very very excited!:D

^^without conceding 20 points each subsequent round and putting in more effective grubbers for repeat sets in attack.

At least you're the first person I've seen put their hand up and admit it, JD. well in.

Yeah it's good to see. I've been pushing for Mason to come here since it was first mentioned as a possibility the first time around. I could never understand how a proven international, who had time to freshen up the body overseas and who is a proven leader, is deemed as a negative signing by so many on here. I didn't get it then and I obviously don't get it now.

Doesn't matter if we concede 20 points if we keep scoring 38 :p

A valid point but looking at our position on the ladder I get the feeling that our F/A may prove important towards the back end of the season. I would like to see us develop a ruthless streak a bit like the Wayne Bennett Broncos of old, particularly at home. That is, give the opposition nothing and take from them everything. Lets turn Marathon Stadium back into the fortress it once was.

The Broncos during the Alfie Langer-era used to decimate teams without leaking any points themselves. That should be the benchmark our team needs to reach. Easier said than done though, especially with our current motley crew of players.

The Mason signing will all mean nothing if we don't keep him on for next season IMO.

He is a must to re-sign.

I wasn't keen on Big Willie coming to the club. The only thing that made me think he might be a valuable player was the fact that Uncle Wayne gave him the tick of approval- and Mr Bennett doesn't have a reputation for making dud purchases.

I never doubted Masons' talent or skill, more his work ethic. It's the one thing that stopped him from going to the level Paul Gallen is at currently. But since his first game in the red and blue, Big Willie has played like a man who knows he has been gifted a chance many players would never have seen, and we are seeing a return to the devastating attacking runs and perfectly timed offloads that characterised his game back in the peak of his career with the dogs.

Great to see his enthusiasm, and as mentioned, it's funny to think that the fresh faced 20 year old I saw come onto the old Marathon Stadium as an interchange player for the Bulldogs back at Butterfield's last home game in 2000 is now the older head running round for our team, showing the younger guys what needs to be done if Newcastle are any hope of resurrecting their season...
