Maybe Tracey, give someone a go on Katoas wing. Ikavalu maybe.

Dykes, Miller, Iro....many options.

Back for finals...

Sharks fullback Will Kennedy will be out of action for an estimated five or six weeks after undergoing ankle surgery today.

Suffering the injury late in the match against the Rabbitohs, Kennedy was able to remain on the field for the exciting finale which saw Nicho Hynes slot the game-winning field goal in golden point, however subsequent scans showed Kennedy would require surgery to correct the issue.

The Sharks high performance and medical staff are hopeful of a quick recovery and a return to the field for Kennedy for the final round match against the Knights or for week one of the NRL Finals.

In a physical encounter the Sharks had the usual bumps and bruises coming from the match on Saturday night, but at this point all other players are expected to be named in the team tomorrow for the local derby clash against the Dragons this weekend.

In other Sharks injury news, Jack Williams, who recently underwent a shoulder reconstruction will play no further part in the 2022 season, likewise winger Sione Katoa who suffered a pectoral injury in his teams round 18 victory over the Cowboys.

The Sharks medical update is brought to you by Pilot, Australia’s biggest men’s healthcare startup.

Since its launch in February 2019, Pilot’s end-to-end telehealth platform has been used by over 100,000 Australian men as they set out to improve access to healthcare for men by making it simple and online and reducing stigmas around health issues such as erectile dysfunction, weight loss, sexual health, mental health and more.

That’s a big loss.

The one thing anyone replacing him can’t replicate is his attacking skill that has lead to so many tries out wide.

He gets defences committed and outside backs into space.

Thank god the next 5 weeks are up against lesser opposition.

Really curious which way Fitzy goes with selection here.

Nicho at fullback didn’t work first up.

Miller was great individually but lacked Kennedy’s ability to set up the attack.

Has Dykes gone in front of Miller?

Given what he did previously, I'd say it's miller time, at least initially.

If he goes well, he'll stay there until Kennedy is back.

Sucks for Kennedy, hopefully he comes back ok, he's been out most consistent all year imo.

The beauty is Fitz has options here.
1. Miller fullback.
2. Dykes fullback.
3. Trindall to half, Hynes fullback

A lot better then we have had in the past, hoping it's Miller to fullback, that allows Hynes to keep working on game management

We just loan a guy now dont we? Isn’t that what big clubs do?

No Ozzi , we trust our depth and reward in form players for their patience.

Storm and Roosters are soulless Clubs who don’t rate that apparently.

I see the Roosters have some more room in their cap to sign that English Centre Gildart from the Tigers. After finding room for that slug Matt Lodge.

I think Fitz has shown his hand on what he's going to do when Kennedy was suspended those 2 weeks.

First week Hynes at FB, Trindall in halves

next week Hynes at 7, Miller at FB - who had a very solid debut

So betting we'll see Miller at fullback, so as to leave the halves to keep working on their game.

I don’t see Kennedy playing again this year if whoever we put at 1 plays well.

5-6 weeks may cut it if your a forward who can needle up but the agility Kennedy moves with may take longer imo.

Yes Miller BUT, Dykes was 18th man last week and this is how Fitz promotes new players into the squad. Next man up, Dykes. Apparently Trindall had a blinder for the Jets so this might be enough of a persuasion to try Hynes at the back again.

Suppose it depends of those 5-6 weeks how much of that has Kennedy running and fully recovered but you could be right. Also coming back week 1 of the finals from an injury isn't ideal.

Miller time. We don't want Nicho back at 1 after that first time - it made our attack way too clunky.

Kennedy did great to get through the game on Saturday. He was BUSTED. Tough bloke

Unlucky for Kennedy, both the injury and the timing of it form-wise. How his replacement goes (probably Miller) will have a big impact on the pre-season narrative I reckon.
