if parra sign both KK and mortimer they will be laughing,f**k thurston..wouldnt he be pushing 30 by then anyway ?

If parra sign KK and Mortimer it would be a bigger risk then a 30 year old thurston. ATM it would still be the prefered option but so much can change in a week let alone an offseason. I don't think we need to invest so much money in someone like Thurston with the backline we have (Hayne, Tahu and Inu) plus guys like Mateo in the pack.

IMO we have enough flair all over the park to win the comp without a proven halfback, Mortimer and KK together should provide the right kicking game to put us in field position to win the game and they shouldn't be relied on to make things happen, guys like Hayne and Mateo esp can look to create things.

Next year I wont expect KK or Mortimer to be up there in try assists or line break assists but I think Mateo, Hayne along with Mortimer and KK will provide enough chances for guys like Tahu and Inu outwide.

This is where the saying of a champian team will always beat a team of champions. Class is important but someone like Thurston will demand the ball alot more then KK and Mortimer and thus will take it away from guys like Mateo is probably the best at players in open space with his passing before and after the line.

In 2008 Mateo had 20 line break assist and 17 try assists in 22 games compared to JT 13 LBA and 13 TA in 17 games. I would take in inform Mateo with a solid halfback over Thurston and Mateo + halfback would probably cost less or equal to what Thurston will demand.
