LOL

Two things saved the Roosters.

The first was that the SMH sat on the story until the first week of the finals in an attempt to create the biggest impact.

The second was the NRL wanted to bury the story as quickly as possible so as not to detract from the finals series.

Genuine mistake?

As if you'd know.

I always found it strange that the Roosters attendance figures had that jump for one season. No doubt the behind the scenes escalation from Manly and the Roosters for a reduction in Sydney teams was a factor.

Roosters Average Home Crowds

1995 9,367
1996 17,060
1997 9,430

The dramatic rise in attendance was simply down to the novelty surrounding Monday night games.

35k against Brisbane
38k against Manly (iirc, Manly far outnumbered Easts fans too)

Packed Houses at our last 2 homes games when we were out of contention says it all really.

ONly one home crowd under 15000. Being 14.6K against the Knights on Mothers Day.

Wests Tigers are the best supported team in Sydney, well and truly at the moment.

I dont think so, we are right up there also and averaged 18000 last year when we fiished 12th and averaged over 18000 again. Both the tigers and bulldogs are the best supported outfits and if the dogs had more night games throughout the year, there is no doubt our crowd figure would be higher but im not complaining.
