Considering we had the only Kiwi (until next year when McLennan joins the Warriors) and Polynesian (at the time Dymock was only an assistant) coach in the NRL, why not use it as a drawcard?

It's because he won't be there to coach him anyway. I guess he's hoping that if he wishes Hopoate all the best that everyone will wish him all the best at Canterbury. It's poor form for any coach to have a dig at a player for leaving anyway. Hopoate not only has a right to choose but also a right to change his mind. Now that he has mad:lol:e the right choice I really hope that he exercises his right to change his mind. ;-)
Des would be a superb choice as Origin coach IMO !

Exactly - pointless article. Burt and Hindy will probably retire, McGuire is retiring. The rest of them are off contract but they will be the same as every other player - if th eclub wants them, they will sign, if they get better money elsewhere they will take it.

The guys coming off contract next year are certainly no biggie (except maybe Fui and Reni). But there is plenty of young talent (time?) off contract after 2013.
