Just some thoughts over the unbearable off season for us outsiders.Some truly splendid metaphors in there...
So far as Benji is concerned, he would argue that he used logic and merit to select teams. Unfortunately those learned and expert processes resulted in a catastrophic season.
If he had used emotion and matters of the heart to make his selections and in other key areas, we might have won more games.
And he blurts on about everything improving and us fans think that if this improving, we’d rather things were going backwards.
It reminds me of the end of days for Mary, when he claimed that finals were still a possibility from second last place in round 20 or something like that. He deserved a Nobel prize for mathematics working that one out.
Benji is a late coaching career Mary protégé alas. Most of what he says, reverse it and it makes a lot more sense!
