Honestly we need pace so two out of Finau/Lawson/Sloan ....

Sure CT/Rava may make 2 extra PCM when running but the fast three will make those metres through speed anyway so same same ... Would be nice to not see a winger sit on his bum on purpose when in clear air.

I'm sure Flanno has already put wing contenders through their paces, He will know who has speed, who can break tackles, who can step, who can tackle, and who is fully fit.

I'd say that Lawson ticks all of the above boxes.

Speed has never been an issue for Sloan. He has some other skills to upgrade during the off-season.

Well he has a bit of competition now. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lawson having a run at fullback in reserves.

He supposedly went from 84kg to 93 kg in the eight or so weeks before Christmas. If that is lean mass, then that is it for him. It is not possible to add more than that. But 93 kg is a perfectly good weight for a winger or fullback. He perhaps needs to work on his tackling technique or positioning but for the second of season in a row he has been injured. But if he doesn't work on it, some other player will come along and take his spot. It is a cruel sport.

The best thing for Sloan is the signing of Gutherson.
He will help improve every single aspect of Sloan's game.

Lawson's skills fit more to a Rugby League centre. I'm not saying this for 2025 but definitely by 2026. He is big, fast, skilful, strong, aggressive and is equally adept at running into holes or setting up his team mates so they can run into holes. Has the power running, but can also step, swerve, fend and seems to gain speed at the precise moment he meets the defence. I bet he has a kicking game of sorts. Extremely versatile.

Lawson is a gun try scorer in 7s at international level. Although 7s is easier, he runs well in open space and into gaps. His highlights look good and he could be a hit in league.
