Winning Tight Games

Heres my positive topic for tonight.

I am extremely happy with our seemingly new found ability to get over the line in close games.

After early season losses to the Warriors and Cowboys coupled with several massive blowout wins, I was becoming concerned with our ability to get the points in "dogfight" type of games.

During our losing streak last year, we lost a number of close games (Bulldogs game immediately springs to mind), and also lost the last game (Vs Dragons) by a small margin when the game was there for us to win.

I believe its a very good indication of a good side to be able to win these games, especially when you play below your best, which I believe we have over the past 3 weeks.

So congratulations to all the boys for there efforts in winning 3 straight nailbiters. Keep them coming, although if you wanna win some by massive margins again I won't be complaining, my heart needs a week off.

Games that are won when we dont play well mean more at the end of the season than putting 70 on the Raiders.

Not only winning close games, but winning 2 in a row.

Backing up after mentally draining games like the broncos to win another mentally draining game is a huge accomplishment, and puts our minds in good stead for the finals, where 3 weeks of close games before we hold the trophy is very possible.

Very well said.

I too was concerned about our ability to win the close ones, but the past two weeks has throw that theory out the window.

3 in a row guys.

Forgot the Bunnies game.

I've been happy with the way we are going along, although I wouldn't mind another 70 points this week against the Raiders ala Round 2.

Haha yeah I'd love to see another blow out score. But I'm just as impressed and pleased as everyone that we are winning the tight ones. It shows that we have the mental toughness needed for the finals.

These were the type of games we were losing last year - out of the 13 we lost in a row there was 5 or 6 by 6 points or less?

It's great that we are winning these games :)

Yep I was thinking the same thing yesterday, in past years we would be losing games like this one, and last weeks game. Sterlo was giving Johns a bit of a serve when he opted to kick that penalty yesterday, as it turned out it was a good decission.

Well it was a good decision in hindsight because we won the game by two points. However we may well have scored after that penalty and streched it out to an eight point lead. Its hard to say either way, but we won the game and thats all that matters.

I also am very pleased to see we are winning the tight games. I think a lot of it comes down to self belief and the more games like these that we win, the more self belief and confidence we will take into the next game.

Great topic. I've been a little concerned about our ability to win the close games, as u said, after the Warriors and Cowboys games this year. But the last three weeks, we've pretty much won the game on fulltime, whether it be Carney's try yesterday, or Carney's trysaver on MacDougall against Souths, or even holding out the Broncos for 17 minutes at the back end of the game last week. I'm pretty sure that just about every Knights fans heart needs a rest, so a comfortable win this week would be good boys. Cheers :p

As everyone has said, it's great to see them holding on like this, plus it must be really helping their confidence.

Daley and Alexander did the same thing in the Brisbane match, and that was the difference as well.

Why people doubt Joey i'll never know...
