Wins after the siren

I know during my time as a league supporter over the past 16 or so years, I've seen many memorable games that were decided after the full-time siren. These are the ones that stand out for me :

- El Masri's conversion vs Newcastle, 2002 (I was at this game)
- Joey's conversion vs St George/Illawarra, 2003
- Nathan Merritt's FG vs Wests Tigers, 2009
- Aaron Gorrell's conversion vs Brisbane, 2006
- Craig Fitzgibbon's conversion vs Newcastle, 1998 (this game cost the Knights the minor premiership)
- Michael Witt's conversion vs Newcastle, 2004
- Canterbury vs Penrith, 2010
- Brisbane vs Parramatta, 2008
- Sydney Roosters vs Brisbane, 1996 (who could forget this game?)

However, does anyone remember this match:

Technically not an after the siren win, but the game last year that Penrith got a penalty with 1 second left, kicked for touch, got the ball 30 or 40 out, then scored off the one play they had left after throwing it around for a fair bit. That was a pretty epic to send the game to GP then get the win 6 minutes into that.

Witt kicked the match winner against the Warriors (for Parramatta) in 2003.

Also in 2002, Hodgson kicked a penalty goal against the Cowboys to win it by a point.

Easts v Broncos 1996 - was that the game Andrew Gee played the ball the wrong way and we kicked a penalty goal lol

Penalty for not tapping the ball properly.

9/10 you won't see it penalised but the refs. decided to make themselves famous.

I don't think the Gorrell conversion was actually the siren, but it was very close.

Was it as close as this one:

I know that there were several close games in 2006. Storm/Bulldogs, Tigers/Knights and Sea Eagles/Tigers are the ones that immediately spring to mind, that were decided in the dying moments of the game.

Correct

And this was the try scored by Darren Junee only four minutes before that incident. Rabs sounds like he's creamed himself:lol::lol:

On a side note, can you believe that over 35000 attended that Monday night match? And this was during a time when crowds were dramatically declining. I know ppl may make the point that free tickets were given out, but even if free tickets were given out today, I'd highly doubt you'd get those sort of crowds to Monday night matches.

Penrith beating Balmain in 1992 with an Andrew Leeds penalty goal from halfway to win the game and he nailed it we ended up winning 14-12.

2006 had a ton of close games, a very underrated season in terms of entertainment. I believe the Broncos/Dragons game was 1 of 3 really close Friday night games in a row.

However, when I said close I meant it was close to being after the siren. I believe the Broncos got to a kick off but the Dragons managed to hold on.

Denan Kemp completing his 4 try haul to beat Parramatta off a Locky grubber in 2008? (maybe 09) was special.

I also remember Blacklock scoring a cracker against us in 2001 to win the game, enough time has passed to be able to acknowledge the quality of the try.

What about that Grand Final in 1997? Darren Albert's Try to win Newcastle their first premiership. Or that heartbreaker for the Bronocs when some dude from the Storm scores a try after Ashton Sims howler in 2008?

Can't remember if the siren went during the play of just after putting it down, but Pearce scored a length of the field match winner against Penrith in 2007 which was pretty special.

Panthers had the ball 3-4m out from our line with seconds on the clock, all panthers had to do was kick it out. Ball goes to Gower (who had felt up Pearce's sister that off season), who gets rushed by Sa, panics and throws the ball to no one. Wing swoops on the loose pass, flicks it to Pearce and he goes 80m to score under the sticks for the win :D
