I thought we had the height advantage there. Probably wasn’t necessary but it was a disruptive attempt that if it comes off they look like geniuses. Much like Guthos pass for the 2nd try. He could have just as easily knocked that on or thrown it forwards/over sideline, much like Jason Smith in 1999 vs Scum. But the pass came off, Genko scores and Gutho looks like a genius
Not sure you can compare situations. One on the spur of the moment and one carefully (ha ha) considered. Percentage footy was the game to play at that point not a hail mary. 5 minutes or even 7 minutes but there was close to 20 minutes to play. Another point to consider is its not like they have practiced that on game day too often. Our attention to detail on those plays has never been great. Gutho had a great game but he had some awful moments as well.
Not grounding the ball.
Not organising the D on the try from the scrum.
The short kick off.
Not screaming at his players to take up defensive positions on the missed penalty.
All that said he will hopefully learn from all those where as I'm not so sure everyone else will.
Onwards and upwards.

The best defences put inside pressure on the ball. The worst ones hold their position 'just in case the ball comes back'.
That’s great under a normal set defence but behind the ruck was a mess, which is why he went over untouched. It’s certainly not all Drown’s fault (whoever the other marker was should’ve also been covering the hole) but he charged after Cook rather recklessly given Cook had 2 defenders in front of him plus he should’ve seen Knight coming his way.

Same as the Matterson knock on and the Moses miss, that short kick off is only as bad as you defend not retrieving it, which was poor on all occasions. I agree it wasn’t the right decision but it shouldn’t read as much into it as you are.
And execution on that one was almost spot on. Perfectly weighted kick, good chase, well timed leap from Taka. If he’d have gone the catch instead of the bat back, it’s quite possibly a different story

Sorry, mates.

We’ll return the favour to them next Saturday.
