People on this site will know my hatred for present Aussie rock bands...but i must say from what i've heard of Wolfmother thery are quite impressive & distinctive.

I've only heard a couple of songs but from those songs i'm willing to best my left nut they many other great songs....could someone please recommend some others!

Icehouse still the kings of Aus music woohoo.

We need to setup an area like LA in the 80's and play that style and wear those clothes....then rock will be back!!!

f**k i love Poison from Alice Cooper...f**k i love 80's rock how f**king good is it!!! the drums, singing, harmony, guitarwith tapping & harmonics, dive bombing..the personalities f**k i miss those days.....now we have f**king stupid sh*t like Ben Lee and othe rstupid sh*t....how f**ked are these new bands!!! they are f**king nothing compared to old 80's feel good rock, i hate life now..they were the days!

Remember when people wanted to be David Lee Roth or Axl Rose or Jon Bon Jovi or Brett Michaels from Posion...now we nobody i mean who the f**k would wanna be Ben Lee? f**king nothings of music!

Ron - Wolfmother to me connect a bit more closely to the 70's era than the 80's that you so desperate crave, but their riffs are the best I've heard from on Aussie band (or otherwise) for a long long time.

Woman is the song I always put people onto first and foremost, it's just flat out hard, heavy and rockin'.

Thanks for that.

My pleasure lol

Their is something about them that i really like, it's hardto say what it is...the singer imo has a great voice...but the actual music itself is definately one of a kind.

I'll download women now.

One of a kind? Come on, all Wolfmother do is rip off their favourite 70's rock, and all (and I mean all) their songs sound identical. Some format, nothing new... boring.

I agree.

Ron, you said in another thread that you like Black Sabbath but only with Dio singing. Yet here you claim to like a band with a singer that sounds exactly like Ozzy. Strange fruit.

For what it's worth, I reckon they sound like Kyuss.

Look, most bands do sound like other bands eg Living End-Clash, The Darkness-Queen etc....what i meant was that compared to other music today they are quite unique....i don't mind seeing a band rip of a 70's group aslong is their's a group actualling wanting to sound 70's like.

It's all good to me....and this mother song is bloody good.

I can't help but see Wolfmother as being a little too manufactured.

The Darkness work because they write good tunes AND they have some fun with it. I reckon Jet fall into the same category.

I reckon WM take themselves a little too seriously.

I dont think Wolfmother have ever denied they love Led Zeppelin and that 70s guitar rock sound, and i think its great that a band around today is still playing homage to that fantastic era ... instead of that sh*thouse hip hop, rap and r&b bullsh*te around today. Good stuff lads, keep it up.

OVP i couldn't of said it better myself, i'd rather band trying to sound like Led Zepplin then that hip hop/rap sh*te.

BTW fair enough, but i don't thinl them taking themselves too serioulsy is a bad thing.

The best Wolfmother songs IMO are Joker and the thief, Minds Eye, Colossal, Woman and White Unicorn.

Oh yeah, The Darkness are awesome too. And they are touring here later this year. I have to see them! Saw Wolfmother at the Falls Festival and they went off!

Yeah i reckon WM is a pretty good band. Its good to have new bands play some decent rock and roll. But like someone else said here, i think a lot of their songs do sound very similar.

I like Wolfmother, but they are wearing very thin, very quickly. I've just been hearing too much of them lately. I don't think they will be around too long personally.

If you're after that hard 70's rock sound, check out Airborne. Very much an AC/DC sound to them, at least they did live. Haven't heard anything off their album before.

While I think The Darkness are good, all the songs I've heard sound the same IMO.

Not that there is anything really wrong with that.
