If you're after that hard 70's rock sound, check out Airborne. Very much an AC/DC sound to them, at least they did live. Haven't heard anything off their album before.

I recall their set-list at the Sydney Big Day Out was:

Rock N' Roll!
Rock in Sydney!
Sydney Rock!
Let's Rock!
Rock N' Roll In Sydney!
Sydney!
Rock N' Roll Rock!
Sydney Rock N' Roll!

Would love to hear their album...

I heard them as I was waiting for a f**king wristband, they sounded alright.

Downloaded Ready To Rock and some other song...Ok, nice sounding guitars but lacking any real punch.

You mean stadiums? nothing wrong with having character on stage.

If Wolfmother where to have more albums, they'd have to go down AC/DC road - that is, stick with the same style. A lot of people will get bored by it but if the music's good, keep it coming. I don't really see how they could progress...

On another note, I've seen them live and that was on Live at the Wireless on ABC. To be honest I thought they were pretty average live - the three-piece is novel for their sound but it just DOESN'T work, they could sound so much better with a continual bass. And they're pretty sloppy too, in Vagabond the lead guy minced heaps of words and they played it a bit too quick for the song. Lots of fun, but I prefer a quality performance musically myself.

Agreeing with Ron is like me hoping for a Dragons victory.

Strangely it does happen.

I like Wolfmother.
I taped them on the ABC and after the concert they programmed rage.
It was really interesting to see what songs they picked.

A fair bit of 90's alterna rock/pop plus the predictable Sabbath and Zep vids.

Oh and Ron if you have FOXTEL you may have caught a band right up your alley at the weekend on V.. "Airbourne".
Bloody hilarious...sadly I think they are being serious.

Ron how are ya mate?
Hows ya band project going?

Listen bud, if you want to hear a new band with a heavy 80's influence, then check out an english band by the name of "Bullet for My Valentine"
Not bad if I do say so myself.

Got given the Wolfmother cd for xmas, and it is hardly memorable. Sure, it's miles better than the other popular rock garbage coming out of Australia today but I don't think it offers anything different to any other band. And from what I bothered reading, the lyrics were god-awful.

And Darkness are cool, but only half there first album had great tracks, there rest were snooze-worthy.

Jumped onto this thread to say they sound like the Zeps, but notice it was already said three times. definately a 1970's sound revisited. Like baseball caps disappearing then becoming reinvented a decade later.

Dont mind Zeps, so don't mind them, but ya can't beat the original thing and if they could write a song as s**t hot as Stairway to Heaven well I would be more impressed.

On here say I bought their album and listened to it once then it started to grow dust. Heard it again up at Byron Bay the other month and it started to grow on me. Definately gets better after you hear it several times, however Zep's copiers for sure.
