I'm starting to think Matto isn't a certainty for our top 17.

if he doesn't, it's not because he lacks ability, maybe more to do with mentality and attitude

I believe he has the skills and physical attributes to be an NRL middle or edge forward and it's his utility value that can make him a decent sub from the bench in my opinion

So this falls into the “stuff” category but I thought I’d recommend a series I have just finished watching for the second time. It’s brutal and violent but it’s probably the best thing I’ve watched in a very long time. It’s on Prime.

When you look back at some of his defensive efforts they were really poor. He didn't even try. When he had to turn and chase his lack of pace was just so obvious. He has potential in attack but a long way to go to be a 1st grader.

I reckon most are of the opinion that he's got great potential but needs plenty of work which he wasnt getting under BA. He may have got that under Ryles but he will definitely get it under Ivan. Wherever he ended up the big issue is he will probably be overpaid particularly early.

Tbh, the Panthers were the perfect club for Talagi - we are rebuilding, and don't need to waste time teaching a kid how to tackle.

And if Cleary can't sort him out, then he's a lost cause.

Ryles offered him the fullback spot. He said no and we jagged Iongi. I reckon we may have dodged a bullet here. I reckon Joash Papali’i is also better in that position than Blaize, much more upside with high end pace. Something that Blaize will never have.

We offered him over $500k and ended up with Iongi at a reported $400k.

Not our problem anymore. Neither is Gutherson’s long term viability at fullback. Hopefully Brown is next.

Seeing him in photos next to other players I reckon is is 5'9 to 10.

The reality is Penrith needed to replace Luai, and Iongi was stuck behind Edwards. Now both get a shot at playing First grade on a regular basis.
