Ok article, standard stuff really. But I liked reading one particular section so I thought I'd plagiarise and share it...
He always seems to refer to Saints as a "great club" and the "proud club" in all his interviews too. I know it doesn't add up to much but it's quite nice to see a new recruit with passion for his club. It's a long way from the NSW Riverina town of Young, where Woolford played first grade as a 16-year-old for the Cherrypickers and dreamt of representing St George like his childhood hero Steve "Slippery" Morris.
His career path would instead take him to the national capital, where his 233 appearances places him third on the Raiders' list of most games. But now, in the twilight of his career, he will finally get the chance to don the famous Red V - alongside Morris' two sons, Brett and Josh.
"Yeah, the ironic thing about the whole situation is that I was a St George supporter right up until I joined Canberra in 93," Woolford smiles. "Coming from Young in the 80's, you either supported St George or Parramatta, so I was a Saint. I went to the 92 Grand Final, it was my first one, and I remember being decked out in all the Saints gear. I was shattered when they got smashed by the Broncos. Steve Morris was my hero, so it's pretty amazing that I've ended up at the club."
