Wouldn't it be better to represent each nation evenly? Hell and they're not even trying with some of those picks. If they had have selected the likes of Segeyaro (PNG), Tedesco (Italy), Milford (Samoa), Jennings (Tonga) at least you could have passed it off. Selecting a player like Maranta is just taking the piss.

I understand that you're never going to get a full-strength side this early into the year. I'm not sure when a player like Johnson is ready, but it's such a shame he isn't there ahead of Trent Hodkinson.

Which is why I think they should just extend the invite to players from all the nations, all the amateurs and so on and give them the opportunity to play with the best. Surely they'd take the opportunity with both hands and if you put them in with enough stars the fans would get behind it. Heck, I think they'd find it endearing, like that legends Origin match where the fan scored a try and gave Gordie a gobful. Everyone lapped that up and I'm sure the same would happen here.
