This morning saw the publication of the RLWC2013 Review Report...

Some of the headlines of the Tournament were:

- 28 matches, 21 venues with a total attendance of 458,463

- Tournament broadcast to 114 territories with a worldwide reach of 134m viewers

- Direct economic impact for the Hosts (England & Wales) was £9.6m

- Financial return to the Rugby League International Federation RLIF will be in excess of £3.7m

- 73% of spectators felt RLWC2013 was the best live sports event they had ever attended

- Over 12,000 spectators were inspired to play Rugby League for the 1st time or more often

Approx $7M AUD!!
Think about how many full time development and admin personnel that could employ.
The RLIF are usually pretty good with funding and throw in a dollar for every gov't and sponsorship dollar.
They've already committed to joint funding the Tongan RL development officer position. This is to replicate the highly successful Samoan RL development officer position.

Maybe we could get a list going of countries with a full time RL employee??

Wow, what a great document with some interesting stats! Such a refreshing suprise to see all that, which will effectively be passed on to Aus/NZ governments and cities for the next edition in 4 years time.

Of notice: 63% of attendees from Northern England, 19% (second biggest) from Southern England.

1% (~45,000) of attendees had or have no interest in rugby league at all!?

Euro symbol AND 'AUD'??? :? I assume you mean AUD, though. anyway...

There aren't many. I think in continental Europe only France, Serbia, Ukraine and maybe the Czechs have D.O's... Not sure about North America.

Would be great if this is how they decide to invest the money...

The RLIF has restructured itself recently that it gives $ directly to nations now, rather than to RLEF to redistribute. So in some cases some nations receive both RLIF and RLEF $.

Also, in some of the examples below there may be distribution of funds to include more than one development officer.

For some nations, they receive RLIF/RLEF funds but not enough for a full time staff member.

Please comment with knowledge of other nations and full time staff members.

From my understanding, full time development officers exist in:

Cook Islands - Kevin Iro (NZ govt/NZRL might throw some $ in)
Fiji - Tomi Finau (Previously Steve McLean or McLaren or something)
Samoa - Chris Newman (not sure if he has returned to Aus)
NZ - obviously from their own sources not RLIF
Aus - As above
PNG - from their own sources/govt and AusAID
Tonga - new position for 2014 with AusAID and RLIF funds (maybe some Tonga Gov funds too)

Englands - from own sources/govt
France - receive RLIF funds
Wales - receive RLIF funds
Ireland - receive RLIF funds
Scotland - receive RLIF funds
Czech - Andy Mulhall
Serbia - Jovan Vujosevic
Malta - Anthony Micallef
Italy - Kelly Rolleston
Ghana - Sylvester Wellington
Ukraine - Artur Martyrosyan
South Africa -
Jamaica - Romeo Monteith
Lebanon - Remond Safi

France - receive RLIF funds
Wales - receive RLIF funds
Ireland - receive RLIF funds
Scotland - receive RLIF funds

These 4 interest me greatly. Especially after the RFL stopped their funding toward teh end of the RLWC.

Wales seem to do a good job of making their own money. I am keen to know the status of these nations. I know there is trouble in Ireland and i have even heard there could a AMNRL/USARL style split there (I hope that isn't the case). But do these 4 make money? Are they still reliant on hand outs?

Wales gets good gov funding, plus has a few good sponsors.

Scotland has gotten Sport Scotland funding for a while.

I think Ireland only recently got on the sports registry.
