Yeah it's a classic. Beautifully shot movie.

His best will always be The Searchers though IMO. Perhaps the best Western of all-time.

Although, he did do one film in which I think he was OK, and that was Funny People. He wasn't great or anything, but he was a million times better than anything he ever did anywhere else.

D'you ever see Punch Drunk Love, Eele? Probably not as strong a performance but for mine a much better film.

Then again, Funny People irritates me.

Agreed umina. Joe Dirt is a guilty pleasure of mine and is fun film to sit through. Thought he was decent in the Emperor's New Groove too.

Going back to Funny People for a second, I can't stand Seth Rogan. Has a decent line every now and then but when it focuses on him being insecure about his inadequacies I can't help but to tune out. Funny People suffered from this as did Zack and Miri.

I haven't seen it, no. Maybe I should.

Seth Rogen is awful! He gets praised for "Pineapple Express", even though I think both James Franco and Danny McBride stole the show there.

The Searchers is a great movie and definitely the best Western of all time. I think the Quiet Man is Wayne's best movie because he is so far out of his comfort zone. I mean, it's probably classed as a romantic comedy. Definitely not the type of movie you associate with John Wayne. In saying that, probably one of the best fist fighting scenes of all time, in it but that's unexpected as well.

Both must see movies though IMO and certainly amongst the top films of all time.

Brendan Fraser or Frasier or whatever.
f**king abysmal actor but made the mummy series a success somehow.

Hope he f**ks off back to Canada into obscurity.

Nicolas Cage. The facial movement of a botox victim, no emotion in his voice, no nothing. I loved Kick Arse but every other movie I've seen him in he just stands there like a statue. Actually he looked like a statue in Kick Ass but it was such an awesome movie I didn't care. Windtalkers on the other hand was one of the worst movies ever made and was just as bad in that as every other movie I've seen him in.

He's the perfect example of someone who got where he is because of his contacts.

Or Adaptation.

Clearly no one has seen Leaving Las Vegas.

Well there's two movies he was good in! Directors and scripts can carry actors and with the amount of dud movies he's been in he's clearly a shit actor being carried. Go out and watch Windtalkers. It's hilariously bad and Cage is utterly woeful in it, just like he is in the other hundred movies he's been in where he sucks balls. He stinks!

lol, directors and scripts carry all actors. Acting is incredibly overrated when it comes to success of a movie. As Hitchcock said, the three most important things in a movie are the script, the script and the script. Robert De Niro would have been in about 20 awful movies in the last 15 years. Marlon Brando went to shit in old age. Al Pacino was in Jack and Jill for christ's sake. You can't say Leaving Las Vegas was good because of the script and direction yet then say Taxi Driver was good because of De Niro. It's the contradiction most people use when criticising acting. The actors they don't like are only famous because of good scripts and direction while the actors they do like make their movies with their acting.
Fact is all good movies are good because of their script and their direction. It's very rare that acting will make or break a movie. Sure, you need a performance to live up to what the character promises, especially if it's a complex character, but Al Pacino can't make Jack and Jill any better than Nicholas Cage can.
He only stinks because you hate him, just like I think Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett and Keanu Reeves stinks, and why I think DiCaprio is overrated.

Cage has had financial troubles, he appears to just take any script put in front of him if the money is right, why would you give a f**k about most of those mediocre productions?

Raising Arizona
Wild At Heart
Leaving Las Vegas
Adaptation
Kick-Ass

Quite a strong body of work with some range to it. You can also add films like Matchstick Men and Lord of War which were above average.
