Worst Referee Call Ever?

A lot of refereeing is discretional and even if you disagree with a call you can understand where the referee was coming from for him to make that call. However the penalty and then being put on report of James Gavet is the worst call I can think of. In no way can I understand how the referee can see a sliding one on one tackle around the legs can be deemed illegal. I really hope the NRL take some action over this, complete disgrace.

I think he considered it a dangerous cannonball style tackle that hit the knees first. Video shows initial contact was a fraction higher so he will not be charged. At full speed it could easily have been seen as a hit to the knees. I've seen far worse ref calls than that one.

It's only a penalty for that if the player is being held up other players and the tackle hits the knees and below. It was a bullshit call end of story.

Munster had possession and was on the ground. It was an awkward mistimed tackle (I think Gavet was expecting him to come forward rather than catch and drop) but it wasn't a cannonball or anything that resembled illegal. The refs just made something up out of nothing because a player got hurt.

Charlie Gubb came on and was grass cutting people for 15 minutes (legally) and the point of contact would have been no different to where Gavet hit Munster.

Anasta conceding a penalty for being punched by David Fa'alogo was pretty bad, and then Anasta getting sin-binned later in the same game for a "swinging arm" was also a howler. They'd be two of the worst I can think of.

This one today was up there though. Perenara is an A grade wanker.

Gavet does anything but launch himself then the attacker just steps around him and heads up field. Should be rewarded for his effort not out on report

Was a one on one tackle, dived at the legs, ball carrier got hurt. Put on report and a penalty.
