What was skyline about? Was it that one with the really bad actors that were trapped inside a building? Came out around the same time as battle Los Angeles? Which for the record I really enjoyed.

After Earth was a joke about Will Smith's kid who never learnt to smile.

Gravity was aptly named - as "Vertigo of the Space Kind".

The absolute gong for me goes to a movie which was not strictly sci-fi but more of a drama was "Dante's Peak".

As a person with a chemitry degree, how the f**k does an aluminium boat and propeller start dissolving in a lake considering the metal has an impervious oxide coating resistant to sulphuric acid. And to boot we had granny's legs getting eaten away.

Don't forget the 4WD driving across molten lava with tyres ablaze but somehow reach safety. BAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
