Would roosters have won without SBW?

Don't believe he is replaceable..Unfortunate for roosters fans. But if he can back up his efforts from 2013 and win another title..he could just be the greatest signing ever.

Probably not but who knows. Really SBW is more that luxury item every team would love. I thought the coaches and all the players really performed at such a high level that it's not an impossibility that without SBW we couldn't have won. A lot went into that effort by a lot of people.

I guess 2015 will indicate SBWs true influence. Like 2005 without Freddie.

I mean literally who replaces him? You can't just take out 1 player from the squad and leave somewhere between $500-750k worth of salary cap free, we would have signed someone else and maybe they helped win the comp.

Fair point.

I don't think anybody else could have produced what he did though. Pretty good value for 750k

Would we have won without SBW? No
Would we have won without Jenko? No
Would we have won without Friend? No
Would we have won without SKD? No
Would we have won without Robbo? Hell no.

SBW was important, but so was quite a few others

Pretty much impossible to say. SBW is a brilliant footballer, but we did win games without him throughout the season.

I'd have to say probably not, but even still it's very possible for us to win without him.

The only time you aren't replaceable is when you can leave your handprint on water.

Souths had 2 of the best and most influential players in the world with inglis and burgess, yet the roosters still had their number. Why is that?
I dont think people will realise his influence until he is gone. He makes the guys around him better as well which was clearly evident in 2013

We have the best/most influential player in the world and currently the best/DallyM coach.. What more do you need?

To the OP's questions, the simple answer is no. IMO, Sonny's most important impact on the club was off the field – not that his efforts on it can be underestimated either. His level of professionalism, work ethic and self belief rubbed off on all the players. Put simply, he changed the club. This is why we could win games without him and why comparisons to Freddie, who was everything to the team, can't be made.

Another good thing is that we have Sonny for another year where we can continue the momentum and build on what he has brought plus turn it into a solid, long-lasting culture. It'll be up to the players' leadership group and the coaching staff to continue this ethos when he leaves.

All I originally wanted out of him was to give these young guys something special to go on after he left. He has already succeeded in that.
