I'd imagine those dunes would thin the hopefuls crowd out by 10 or 20% after the first day

I remember in a Qld country trial, our squad of 60 was reduced by a ½ after one day on the dunes. Yes, 1 day, not an hour but 6!
The guys who pulled out or who were dismissed was mainly attributed to not being fit enough for day 2.

It takes a real man to admit he's not really a real man This younger self chronic asthmatic would have been found dead less than halfway up the first dune !
