I'd imagine those dunes would thin the hopefuls crowd out by 10 or 20% after the first day

I remember in a Qld country trial, our squad of 60 was reduced by a ½ after one day on the dunes. Yes, 1 day, not an hour but 6!
The guys who pulled out or who were dismissed was mainly attributed to not being fit enough for day 2.

With the Pathways season beginning next Saturday, we preview our two U/17’s boys sides before they kick off their campaigns against each other at Wests Tigers Club Day.

This is bullshit.
Basically 2 teams that fall under that so called HBG umbrella group playing against each other.
What happens if a Balmain player ends the career of a magpie player or vice versa.
What if a group of magpie or tiger supporters start giving it to the opposition and it riles up the other supporter. There would be other scenarios too.
Personally I like to watch our team battle it out against traditional rivals like Parra, Dogs etc.
We will always promote a divide until we have the top 3 grades all Wests Tigers.
The young fellas can be from our feeder clubs closer to home and school.
Another thing is the youngins can play in full Maggie or Tigers strip but when they play NRL it's in an equal share of Gold, Black and white colours with no additional magpie patches.
Western Suburbs have the name Wests in the joint venture and we should have the Tigers emblem...simple. Otherwise we would be shouting Wests Tigers Magpies...bullshit.
I've just sent an email to WT stating this but I wonder if I'm on my Pat Malone with this.
I can't follow two teams.

Both Wests and Balmain are pretty confident of their sides in the Matts, apparently Balmain beat them in an U/15s inter club game late last year

Think Ball may struggle a bit, most of the Magpies will be in their first year

My personal take is to let them run the juniors the way they see fit. I follow wests tigers in NRL. I care more about the quality of the juniors who make it into the NRL side.

U17 aren't exactly juniors, not ny nature anyway and it still doesn't address the us v them and the pox that still exists at grounds and other external forums.
There's still a divide and if you want to put the fire out of the agitating board members and members who would rather the magpies then the Wests Tigers should at least have more than one team.
I'll never watch Western Suburbs players Balmain again.
Let's hope Havea Siotame doesn't snap Jarrod Kanaan in half.
