Seems like a few of us have the game, so let's get discussing!

How are ya'll enjoying it? What CAWs do you have? What's your Universe like? Was Attitude mode everything you wanted and more?

DISCUSS!

I only bought the game a couple of days ago (JB, you've done it again!) but so far I'm reasonably impressed. Gameplay is still a tad clunky but Attitude Mode is a nice step up from the complete tedium that was Road To Wrestlemania mode and I'm enjoying the trip down memory lane (despite some ugly character models, HHH 97 looks like a warlock!). The time challenges were annoying (especially if there were managers around, I never knew I hated Billy Gunn so much until he kept interfering in my match) but everything else was a lot of fun and they did a good job of incorporating a lot of new features they introduced in this iteration.

Perhaps it's a tad too linear, I'd love a comprehensive story mode with a ton of different branching paths pending on how you clear a match but eh, Yukes will never receive the development time required for such a thing to be worthwhile.

As for CAWs, I'm trying to make this my ultimate Attitude Era game so I've been acquiring a lot of the big names from 1997-2000. So far I've got...

Psycho Sid
Kurt Angle
Chris Benoit
Ahmed Johnson
Owen Hart
Jim Neidhart
Jeff Hardy
Matt Hardy
Chyna

Will try and get my hands on Dean Malenko, The Dudleys, D'Lo Brown, Test, Albert, Al Snow, Jeff Jarrett, Marc Mero etc. later when the servers aren't so inconsistent.

I'm digging a couple of different aspects they added. LOVE the ability to choose whether I want to have a quick squash match or epic match on the fly. Also like that there are more slots on Universe mode, although I've yet to really explore that mode just yet.

Bought it 2 days ago and am loving the Attitude Era mode. OMG moments are fun, and smashing dudes through the announcers table seems more true to life in this game than the previous ones I've played.

Only about halfway through the Austin Era (2nd part) but up to my favorite - Mankind vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell. Will play tonight, just wish I could be Mankind!

Haven't had a chance to look through anything else yet.

Pete - Those characters you mentioned, is that like in old version of WWE games where you look online for a build and build it from that (haven't played a wrestling game in about 6 years) or is it already created and you just download them?

Loved it but have not played it in about 2 - 3 weeks. One of the few games I've taken online(hate playing 12 year old derricks) and it was fun. Lots of cheesey gameplay though which kinda ruined it for me but once I worked out how to turn off playing against people and their maxed out guys I enjoyed it.

Maybe I'll get back into it again as I have not touched the universe mode but given I've got all the achievements bar the 3 of the online ones there is not much reason to play. Shouldn't of bought the DLC upfront

From memory I've downloaded;

Hogan, Flair, Sid, Mosh, Thrasher, Al Snow, Test, Goldberg, Sting, Scott Hall, Jarrett, Ahmed Johnson, D'Lo, Benoit, D'Lo, Raven, Vampiro(who looks awesome but is freaking tiny for some reason), Taz, RVD, Lance Storm, Mike Awesome, Bam Bam Bigelow, Ultimate Warrior, Jeff and Matt Hardy and the Dudleys. I'm sure I've missed some more also but the Raven CAW I found is one of the best I've seen and some of the others are also really good. I wanted to make it like 98-99 and have ECW vs WCW vs WWF. I love how you can download all these guys and the arenas.

Seriously felt like I was playing a 2013 version WCW/NWO Revenge back in the old Nitro arena when I had NWO Hogan(with NWO Belt) fighting Sting. Probably the most underrated wrestling game I can remember. Attitude mode is the first time I've gone through "chapters" this gen. Amazing mode and just like how NBA 2K did it with Jordan they did a 5 star job.

What's the gameplay like? WWE '12 was a bit ridiculous with some of its challenges and the CPU reversal rate IMO. Even with sliders, the CPU would make a Cena-esque comeback after I beat them down for three minutes.

I've had a few bad frustrating comebacks, but once you get one reversal in, youre back on the front foot.

Almost finished the 3rd part of Attitude Era. Can't wait for Mankind - far and away my favorite wrestler ever.

I only play local Multiplayer. Me and my friends have CAWs we have had since Smackdown 1 (with a few gimmick/body shape changes/race changes). We play Rumbles or 30 minute Hell in a Cell Fatal Four way Iron Man Matches with random wrestlers. So fun.

The reversal system is annoying as hell when playing multi, when you are against a master there isnt much you can do except a running grapple move. It's spammy as hell, but it just isn't feasable try for a decent grapple/strike combo when it will be revearsed in one or two moves. I don't have the same problem against AI, but against friends, we kind of have the timing down pat.

It is crazy in a 30 minute Iron Man match that a move hasn't been struck 4 minutes in.

word on the street is that WWE is shopping around for a new video game publisher as THQ is about to be wiped like a dirty arse...

EDIT: looks like 2K sports is taking it over according to IGN

sorry no link

After you really get into this game...all the faults really shine through.

Hit detection still sucks
Opponents Don't Sell
Winning is determined by who reverses the most
Kick out system sucks
Royal Rumble sucks - can't play as anybody other than your own wrestler
Glitchy as f**k - had guys just go into an endless submission that couldn't be broken in a multiple man match
Online Servers are inconsistent
Roster sucks - Basically all the wrestlers play the same way. The selection is also crap, Ryback being DLC is plain BS.

I'm saying he wouldn't get up within 10 seconds like he does in my game.

Oh and that Brock shouldn't have half his move-set locked on DLC. What BS!
