lol... Every now and then I check out what's going on with WWE and I'm always completely unsurprised at how shit it is. There was a time and place for Goldberg, but that dude hasn't developed as a wrestler in over 20 years. Same shit every two minute match. Lesnar isn't much better.

Raw has been very good since the Rumble, SD is pure Ebola now. Sad thing is they've fed the Fiend to Goldberg to sell Nostalgia at mania, and will probably book a match that doesn't need the title.

not taking the piss, but what do you enjoy about raw? I thought the lashley thing with rusev was at least interesting, but I struggle to think of much else I’ve seen in the last six months that grabbed my attention

With SmackDown now being the top money show, that’s where Vince is going to spend most his time on. So it’s no surprise that Raw and SmackDown have swapped their traditional roles in the WWE world.

Apart from the Mandy/Otis story, smackdown has been horrendous for the past few months. Majority of the card is just a copy paste job. Aside from the cucking angle, Raws story's have all been progressing nicely, coherent and making sense.

The Seth cult thing is definitely interesting, Angel has been brilliant since his call up, and Andrade back will definitely add a nice layer to that. Drew vs Brock is building nicely. Becky and Shayna is also something different and intriguing.

It's because Bill hasn't wrestled since that time and place, but when the WWE started releasing merchandise they were shocked that fans actually cared for Goldberg. Bill had that star quality and when he was paired with the right opponent like DDP, like Scott Steiner and even guys like Perry Saturn he could be really entertaining to watch. He had a proto-MMA gimmick that gets lost in all the Spear/Jackhammer stereotype.

Look, I'm a Goldberg fan, but don't kid yourself, Brock is way better and he's way better than most wrestlers going around today. Unfortunately now, nobody takes the business seriously so it's devolved into figure skating where fans sit on their hands until wrestlers start kicking out of a thousand moves so fans can chant this is awesome.

It's ridiculous...but I can't get enough of it.

Brock is fine when he's motivated, which obviously depends on his opponent, but when he doesn't care he's dull. I don't mind him as a final boss, but when he wears the strap for 18 months and has about a dozen matches in that time I just done care.

Goldberg I agree with you on. He fact he barely comes back means he's a decent draw and can do the odd match, but he shouldn't need a title to make it seem like a big deal. To be fair Cena/Fiend is a far more interesting prospect to me than Goldberg/Reigns, with everything that would be on the line for Cena. I honestly feel that they're worried the fans would turn on Roman again if he beats Bray so they're having him beat a part timer instead so he doesn't get Seth'd.

Problem is it’s for the title, which will split the crowd at best. Hopefully they go with Lesnar vs McIntyre for the final match, because the Universal Title match could end the PPV with a possible downer.

Wrestlemania line up so far

Lesnar/McIntyre
Ripley/Flair
Goldberg/Reigns
Cena/Wyatt
Lynch/??

Add to that the rumoured matches of

Edge/Orton
Undertaker/Styles
Andre battle royal

Good grief. Could this be the most uninspiring wrestlemania since 13?

Since 33 which coincidentally was the last time they brought Goldberg back. Before then 32 was pretty bad with that incredibly rushed Shane/Undertaker build and then 29 where the two biggest matches were rematches from Wrestlemania and SummerSlam respectively.

13 was something else entirely. Shawn Michaels pulled out of the show right in the middle of the build-up which meant things had to be rewritten on the fly. I actually think the television leading up to it is extremely exciting and the WWF tried to make the best of a bad situation, but it wasn't going to make for a great Wrestlemania. It was more or less like a rebuild where they went with The Undertaker and Sid as a placeholder match and used Austin/Bret as their launching point for their long term storyline.

If they wanted to blow their load early they could have done the Austin/Bret rematch at Wrestlemania, which in hindsight would have made for the better looking card, but then I think the road to SummerSlam and Wrestlemania XIV wouldn't be as hot.

It's the opposite of the current product who aren't willing to give these guys that experience and will tread out every former legend to help bump a rating even though the crowd they attract never sticks around to watch the current product because the shows are so forgettable.

You've got me on this Wrestlemania XIII kick now.

If the WWE ran a similar card it would look like:

WWE Championship Match

Drew McIntyre vs. Bobby Lashley (c)

Roman Reigns & The Usos vs. Baron Corbin & Dolph Ziggler & Bobby Roode

Submission Match
Daniel Bryan vs. Kevin Owens

WWE Tag Team Match
Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy vs. Samoa Joe & AJ Styles

Andrade (w/Zelina Vega) vs. The Fiend (w/Nikki Cross)

WWE Intercontinental Championship Match

Humberto Carrillo (c) vs. Damian Priest

The Street Profits vs. The Revival vs. The OC vs. Heavy Machinary

Pre-Show: Sheamus vs. Shorty G

It was a simpler time.

Reigns comes out, says two words - boom, match signed.

Fiend comes out, points at WM sign - Boom, match signed.

The card looks bad, the build up is horrendous. Side effect of having way too many PPV's/specials crammed into a short space of time.

Will be something like
Goldberg vs Reigns
Fiend vs Cena
Lynch vs Bazler
Edge vs Orton
Drew vs Brock
Owens, Viking Raiders & Street Profits vs Seth & Messiah Maniacs (with another addition or another partner)
Taker vs Styles
Charlotte vs Rhea
Andrade vs Gaza vs Rey vs Carrillo
Miz & Morrison vs Usos vs New Day vs Corbin and Roode
Braun vs Shinsuke

Preshow
Otis vs Dolph
Bayley vs Sasha
Battle Royales

Like most years there's some good matches and some rubbish. More rubbish than not this year though

Yeah I take your point that in 1997 the WWF was at least trying with exciting TV, they just didn't have the cattle to deliver a solid wretlemania outside of one match at that point in time, especially given the withdrawal of HBK. That sounds like a strange thing to say with a card involving the Rock and HHH but their gimmicks weren't there at that point.

yeh I was thinking he could still be working the aew crew by saying he is a free agent. Really hope he lands there though, will be amazing
This is something I posed in a different forum.
Matt Hardy is officially free of the WWE. Where do we think he will end up?

My guess is ROH. At this time he has made it known he wants to do more of what he wants, and I reckon Scurll will allow him to book himself. I absolutely would not be surprised to see him in AEW since the Bucks are huge fans of him & Jeff, but I think the opportunity to include his family would be more achievable in ROH. Plus they are looking for more senior talent after the AEW exodus, and a name like Matt Hardy would fit well with them. As for Impact, I’d say there is very little chance there considering his exit. Same goes for the NWA, who are looking to put on a more serious product than Matt’s Broken Universe.

Which is why I made the Humberto connection to The Rock. Not because I view him as the next Rock, but because The Rock really was just another white meat babyface who's defining feature was being the IC Champion.

The WWF didn't have much choice in the matter, but at least they were booking current stars on the show and trying to set themselves up for the future. This year's card just looks so cynical by comparison with three thrown together legends matches on top of Edge/Orton and Lesnar/McIntyre. That right there was more than enough but because of the stock market and the current ratings they've desperately rolled out all these former legends who are just band-aid solutions for bigger problems.

When Beth Phoenix and Randy Orton had their stare down I was half expecting them to kiss... lol, instead they went for the woman beater gimmick.
Glad to finally see what was in Rowans cage, I wouldnt have said spider in a million years...
