WWE To Resurrect ECW

TNAWrestling.com is reporting that WWE has made the decision to bring back ECW FULL-TIME.
The plan is to have the promotion return on a full-time basis in September. WWE officials have begun talking to former talent about returning to work for the promotion.
There has been no decision on how the company will be brought back just yet. It's possible that it will take over the present OVW territory, that it will be a promotion that gets matches on the Raw and/or Smackdown promotions or possibly in some other manner.
Paul Heyman and Tommy Dreamer will be booking ECW when it starts up.
WWE is offering talent three year deals which consist of a series of one year contracts with rollover clauses. The Sandman, Francine and Balls Mahoney are all being sent contreacts this week.

In a follow-up to the story that we posted earlier about ECW returning full-time, the plan was said to be finalized in the last week or so.
WWE is not looking to add a third day to their television schedule. It is believed this will be a mix of both former ECW wrestlers and new WWE developmental wrestlers who have been working house shows under Paul Heyman.
Speaking of Heyman, he will be in charge of the ECW brand. The plan is to run house shows and some form of weekly television as well.
Dave Meltzer reports that it would likely be handled similar to the Superastros deal in the late 90s, with weekly matches taped before either the Raw or Smackdown tapings.

wow, never saw that one comin, bit out of the left field....my interest in it will depend on which wrestlers they bring back and whether this new ECW will be like the old skool ECW or more WWE style...looks as though we wont be gettin them tho as their house shows

Sweet motherly Christ! This will be awesome. Heyman has turned OVW into a joke, second rate promotion into one with some of the most thought provoking storylines going around.

I'll wait until WWE.com confirms it, but I'm certainly excited about this if it is true. ECW under Heyman's guise with old talent and WWE developmentals will produce some interesting things.

This makes me sick.

I'll watch it but I can't stand the idea of Vince behind it. It won't be the same. You won't see the risky stuff as they will try and make it marketable. You won't see new up and comers, rather you will see roid freaks vince wants to push before he sticks them on tv.

That said it will probably be more fun to watch then smackdown...

Apparently they won't be confirming it on WWE.com, theyre meant to be going to introduce it through storyline or something. I think theyll announce it at the PPV.

i doubt heyman would allow vinnie mac or anyone else to sh*t on the legacy of ecw.

Exactly, with Heyman and Dreamer running the show predominantly, I dont think they would let Vince fuuck it up.

Vince better let them trash the WWE name once again on their shows if they see fit. Aslong as they dont do it every 5 seconds thatd be good.

If this is true then it will be great.. for about 3 months. Then Vince and his ever intelligent daughter Steph, with all her insightful booking and storylines, will decide to step in and turn it into a joke. I don't care if Heyman is the booker, Vince will still own it and will manage to f**k it up somehow.

I hope Vince doesn't get in Heyman's way because he has shown, through what Heyman has done with OVW, that he is the best bookers around.

Sabu is sh*t.

Though I'd mark out if he and RVD teamed up again for old times sake. But they'd need to bring in Bill Alfonzo, DADDY!

Sabu is sh*t.
Have seen him wrestle? Have you seen some of the crazy stuff he does in the ring. Unless your saying that he will be sh*t in the WWE, your statements are completely unjustifiable.

Sabu has done some really good things in recent times with TNA, but I'm not sad to see him go. To be fair, his shelf life in TNA was just about up. He was never going to be a legitimate main eventer or X-Division champion, so had he stayed on he'd be stuck as a stepping stone to the main event (much as he was for Samoa Joe at Lockdown - bear in mind I've not read spoilers yet).

I've read this somewhere else provided by Paranior but I think it's great... except I've got little faith in something with Vince behind it. Even if it's just finicial backing.
