It was a desperate move because they had to do it. I didn't say it wasn't a good idea, I just said that you can't give the WWE credit for brilliance when they *had* to find someone to wrestle for Booker if they wanted the feud to continue. Who else could they have recruited? JBL? Orlando Jordan?

I give them credit for turning a unfortunate situation (Booker's injury) into a positive (by adding Orton to the mix). I don't see why I can't give credit to them for making the feud entertaining hence putting some intrest into the US division.

I guess some people are just more easily impressed than others. I personally didn't find the US title situation particularly interesting. The matches were good workrate wise, but the storyline never really grabbed my attention.

I think it's obvious he will be the underdog. I just hope they don't allow the marks to dictate the wrestling and give him the title.

Some rumours going around that Marty Jannetty vs Shawn Michaels is a option for Mania 22.

My guess if that is true, is that on RAW this week Jannetty and Vince are in the ring, then Shawn comes in and breaks it up. Vince distracts Shawn allowing Marty to attack Shawn. Jannetty then forces Michaels to kiss Vince's ass...


Something along those lines if they want to go ahead with Jannetty vs Michaels.

United States Heavyweight Championship
Chris Benoit vs. JBL

Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship
Shelton Benjamin vs. Ric Flair

Booker T vs. The Boogeyman

The Undertaker vs. Mark Henry

Some other notes:

- Hulk Hogan, Steve Austin, The Rock and Chris Jericho are not scheduled to appear at Wrestlemania at this time.

According to the 1/30/06 Wrestling Observer newsletter, Hogan is at less than 50%, mostly due to him not liking proposed matches (including a "legends" match with Greg Valentine), but there's always a chance since his VH-1 show is coming up.

Steve Austin is not on good terms with WWE due to how JR was treated and how WWE wanted him to job to Coach. Plus, his film was scheduled to begin shooting during the Mania build-up, although that may have changed.

Booo, no Hogan, Rock, Austin or Y2J. Don't like the idea of Shelton vs Flair again, and I have a feeling that the WWE might not make the MITB a ladder match.

They should of give Undertaker a bigger match besides that piece of crap in Mark Henry.

Aside from the two titles matches and MITB II, I don't give a rat's ass about any of the rumoured matches. Boogeyman should never be on Wrestlemania, and Benoit vs. JBL is just too oldschool/dull.

I'd rather see Finley and Hardy dropped from MITB II and have Booker/Benoit added.

I'd keep Hardy in the MITB match to be honest if they do decide to make it a ladder match. Boogeyman is gonna take some part at Mania mainly because he is way over. Benoit vs JBL intrests me, and I believe they could actually have a good feud.

If you add Benoit into the MITB match then you just cancel another title being defended.

Thuga, you should know that unless injuries occur the rumoured matches are mostly correct. The Money in the bank just does not appeal to me that much. And who on earth is Foley being wasted with Edge who already has heaps of heat? Why not use Benjamin against Foley?

I was thinking more along the lines of Rockers VS McMahons.

I'm not that phased if the US/IC titles don't get defended at Mania. If they do get defended, it's going to be in a throwaway feud. They've got a month to get us interested in the two titles and I just can't see myself being excited by JBL/Benoit when JBL hasn't done anything in the past few months.

If they insist on doing an interpromotional MITB match it should feature the best people possible, regardless of whether they hold upper midcard titles that the WWE clearly doesn't care about enough to invest real time into.

Hell, I think Raw should keep the MITB much like they've kept the Elimination Chamber. I still think Carlito vs. Chris Masters vs. RVD vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Kane vs. Big Show has great potential. Two spot workers, one solid workman, and three big brawlers who can throw the smaller guys around. You can also set up the inevitable Kane/Big Show falling out, as well as guaranteeing WWE fans a future Raw main eventer (assuming they don't let Show/Kane win it).

actually, there was an interesting article on the oratory recently that suggested lita is the one who's garnering the vast majority of heat in the partnership - either through breaking up a friendship, or interfering in matches, or consistently talking for edge. i think this match would only be useful to get edge over if he splits with lita.

If you think the rumored matches won't happen you are incredibly stupid. Henry-Taker is fairly obvious, injury only prevents this, edge-foley has been set up on raw, the money in the bank match is the only one where there may be a surprise but I doubt it!

While edge is with lita I see no point in putting him with Foley! It is plain stupid! Shelton could use the match heaps more!

i never said that. in fact, i said that most of the matches (like usual) are through logical deduction. the only ones i think are speculation are the participants in the mitb match.

plus, it was more of a general statement. if you don't think the wwe changes its direction unless there are injuries to the participants, you're incredibly naive.
