SHARKS’ XERRI CONTRACT DILEMMA

The Cronulla Sharks are facing some tough recruitment calls.

The boom centre Bronson Xerri is on about a quarter of the salary of Josh Dugan, who has three years left on his contract. Xerri is off contract next year.

The local junior will attract huge interest from rival clubs. His scorching try against the Penrith Panthers was superstar stuff. Which brings us back to Dugan. It’s not his fault that the club agreed to pay him $800,000-a-season as a marquee player.

He was playing Origin at the time but it was a panic signing when they lost Jack Bird to the Brisbane Broncos. The Sharks need his money to keep Xerri. They can’t offload Dugan because no other club could afford him.
He's fast all right, but a defender was taken out. No idea how it passed muster.

Yeah...nah....went to the video ref. Was pretty obvious there was no interference. Cracked me up when DWZ tried to scare him into dropping the ball by yelling out as he gave him a cold though!

Read the Rothfield grub thread last couple of pages.
What he's saying here is factually wrong. He doesn't even know that what year a players contract ends, and a player from the club he supposedly supports.

This is a Rothfield agenda item. He his hated by the all the players & the club & that push is driven by Duges & Fifita. That is why every article out of the grub & any news on Fox Sports is Anti Duges & feefs.
For instance, he could run an article about Duges Mullet & how is is using that to raise money for a charity, to get it shaved off.

Buzz has never gotten over being called a faarrkkwit by Fifi and Dugan on that podcast. Having Xerri on that sort of coin for 3 years allows us to keep Dugan on his coin for the same time period.

Looked more like Jimmy was doing his usual grub act and was holding Dugan back tbh.

Thats what i saw too, Jimmy pulled Duges back which caused Duges to throw out the arms and legs off balance and tangled up with everyone else. I dont think Xerri was in danger of being caught by anyone anyway.

Old BBQ still winning us games. I love the merkin!

Just reviewed this for fun.

Whare had a hold of dugan after he passes. Back of the jumper. BBQ then grabbed Dugan on the front of the jersey but got tangled up tryimg to go across the front of Dugan and tripped over Duges’ legs

Sorry Frog, you are way off the mark.

Well, I was close. I knew the 3.4metre long legs of Duges got somebody accidentally.

Look at it again. Dugan had passed the ball to the young bloke. There was no point holding him back. He then ran into Maloney who was sliding in cover. It was a decent piece of gamesmanship by the Duge, and the bunker went with it, I suspect not thinking it would decide the outcome. It wouldn't have been so bad if the Mansour try earlier hadn't been disallowed.

Anyway good luck with your season, you pulled one out of the fire, we've done it enough times.

The point was stop him backing up in support. Clearly no one told Whare there was no point huh?

Clear try but i was still very surprised they gave it based on the past. The one from ennis in 2016 (barba try not given) vs Newcastle springs to mind
