Watching more LFCtv today and it was a Xabi Alonso highlight package. Who at the club was responsible for pissing him off and helped pack his bags off to Madrid. He was absolutely class, could score goals, set up goals, sit deep and cover the back 4 as his defensive positioning and reading was great. We have never even gone close to replacing him and we've been poorer for it.

Gotta admit i dont really see the point in watching hours and hours of old games unless you're trying to detach from reality in which case, watch your landing.

haha Rafa was responsible, he wanted Barry and it pissed off Alonso. Confirmed by Ed001. Such a disastrous and avoidable scenario.

It was such a f**king dumb decision. Sell one of the premier midfielders the world because you want an over priced and over rated English player. It's so much like what Easts did with Maloney by letting him go to the Sharks.

We lost masch nothing after as well didn't we. Went from having Xabi, Masch and Stevie G in the middle to having Charlie Adam and Stewart Downing lol

Apparently Palace have upped their bid for Benteke to 31.5m. We should be biting their arms off if that's the case. He just doesn't fit into Klopps style unfortunately. He'll score goals in a set up like Palace I have no doubts about at all.

If it's true, it's a good bit of business to get that much back.

He is still a very good striker and I think will go well at Palace. As you stated Jack, just didn't suit our style of play and is very much 4th or 5th choice with DS, Origi, Ings, Firmino, Mane all being preferred.

We paid $32 Mil
They will pay $31.5 Mil

Insofacto, we paid $500k to loan a striker and relegate Villa.

Good business.

15 million for a squad player, mad piece of business if it happens.

Also expect Grujic to be a regular in midfield, he wouldn't get a work permit if he wasn't going to be a regular player.

15m for Ibe very good business IMO, specially with the emergence of Ojo under Klopp. Be a good move for all parties really, Eddie Howe is a good young coach so hopefully Ibe can get a good run of games at Bournemouth.

Gee I hope your right as well Lolesi, Skrtel should be the first player we sell. Wonder what sort of fee he will get for us. I'd almost pay Fenerbache or whoever wants him to take him off our hands.

Hoping to see a lot more outgoings now with Benteke hopefully bringing us the 31m that was reported.

They think about 5 mil Jack, which is fair enough.

I hear Ibe has a buy back option also which is a good call. Hedging our bets, we are learning.

Yep heard that too.

The club has also negotiated a sell on clause too.

Pretty damn good business.

Decent transfer period so far imo (compared to the last few)

So all up the club are in talks to sell Christian Benteke, Jordon Ibe, Martin Skrtel, Sergi Canos and Luis Alberto for a combined £61m.

Thats enough for at least 2 more southampton players

Club are also in talks to secure Klopp long term which he is apparently keen to sign.

Hoping he will do to us what he did for Mainz and Borussia Dortmund.

Assistant coaches Zeljko Buvac and Peter Krawietz will also be rewarded with new deals.

Why give Klopp a new deal? I do think he is a good manager, but you guys finished 8th last season. This season he will have his "own squad" and what if he finishes 8th again? Seems silly to give him a new deal before he shows improvement in the league.
