The minute the FA cleared us of any wrong doing we should have bid. f**k Southampton.
No you think Southampton are playing hardball now they'd of told us where to go.
I reckon part of the reason we were cleared is they insisted on that statement.
No matter how the VDV transfer ends up they have to be seen to show they're not just going to cave in.
I'm still hoping the transfer goes ahead.
Hope there's a plan B though.

I'd be absolutely fuming if I was Saints as well. We've illegally met with VVD and turned his head so much that his position is practically untenable. All for the sake of trying to get the deal done a little cheaper than we wanted to pay.

They have every right to tell us to go f**k our selves. We'll end up paying more than anyone else if Saints want to do business with us for VVD and it's no ones fault but our own.

Ultimately Southampton need to make a decision and decide if
1) it is worth keeping an asset that is no longer invested in the cause (and as such, could devalue over time due to performances or lack of appearances)
2) if they are really willing to accept a lesser amount just to spite a club - the end result is the same, the player leaves the club, all they're doing is reducing their own windfall, which isn't a smart decision.

They absolutely have the right to do whatever they want, its their player and hes got 4 and 1/2 years on his contract so they hold all the cards, but from a business perspective it doesn't make much sense.

There was a story doing the rounds OxladeChamberlain preferred a Liverpool move because Klopp would play him in the centre of midfield but Chelsea won't.
I don't know he'd make our side as first choice.
Anyone else think that?
I think that too, he'd certainly be down the pecking order unless he delivers really strong shifts when given a chance

Arsenal are silly for letting OA go anyways, he's no superstar but at least he has a dig... not like some of the other soft merkins they have in their squad.

I'm not too sure if they actually cleared us, Southampton just decided to not proceed with it after the apology
I think Southampton accepted the apology and as a result, the FA dropped the case as the party in question was satisfied.

If we legitimately bid for him I don't think they can reopen an old case in spite. Maybe they can, but I don't know if it would wash. FA doesn't care about transparent transfers, only shady ones, if the latter occurred i don't think it could be considered shady.

We weren't the only team to meet him.
The only reason we were reported is some muppet within our ranks tipped the press and Southampton did't get their bidding war.

So, LFC sign the Ox. Wonder if they are still pursuing Lemar from Monacco?
They still are, Ox deal has nothing to do with Lemar. Lemar is a Coutinho replacement. I don't know why some journos don't understand this, even Gab Marcotti says on ESPNFC, "Yeah well Liverpool saw Chamberlain as a cheaper alternative to Lemar", and I'm sitting there shaking my head saying "no, no, no."

Cheers. There is so much swirling around that's why I thought I'd ask here. :)

Dunno about you guys but I think AOC is a great signing, technique, strength, speed, great at pressing. Reckon him and Lallana will alternate quite a bit.

Deadline day is gonna be something if we pull off lemar and VVD.

Supposedly Wolfsburg are paying 6mill + wages for the Origi loan, another great deal.

I'm in the same boat, I really don't understand some of the negativity concerning AOC. He's a talented, relatively young player who will be really handy when we need someone to fill a gap. IMO, he's also got the potential to improve to a level beyond that role. But people act like he's a signing to walk straight into the regular first eleven.

Well, no VVD and no Lemar. I know the La Liga transfer window is open for another 24 hours, but considering no Lemar I think you can bank on Liverpool not selling Couthino in this transfer window (at least).

The fact we didn't even bid for VVD is proof that the tapping up case file isn't totally dismissed. Liverpool were too scared to take the initiative and put a bid in, the risk of pissing off Southampton and reopening the case was too great. They were waiting for an invitation from Southampton to start a negotiation, but obviously they never gave it. Another team bidding would have really helped.

As for not getting Lemar, that means they are surely keeping coutinho. They could have easily used coutinho sale money to bid for Lemar.

Not a great window but not a bad window either. The positives are we resolved the left back problem, got ourselves a class mid for next season, and our pulling power has evidently sky-rocketed. It used to be arsenal or Chelsea who the players were waiting on. Now they want to wait for us to bid. Of course it doesn't mean the tide has shifted against Chelsea - they're the champions - but it has certainly shifted against arsenal.

Well Klopp did accomplish one thing, he sold Sakho. Crystal Palace has officially signed him. Report are LFC got £26 million for him.

Divock Origi is off on a season long loan to Wolfsburg. They are reportedly paying €3 million.
