Losing to team that hasn't won a game.
That is pretty bad isn't it Jeff. Beaten by a penalty goal. We came home stronger but just not good enough by the looks of things.Losing to team that hasn't won a game.
Plus on the channel 9 coverage the commentator said two of the Dragons better forwards have signed with the Bulldogs for 2025.Losing to team that hasn't won a game.
Heard it on fox as wellPlus on the channel 9 coverage the commentator said two of the Dragons better forwards have signed with the Bulldogs for 2025.
Yep something is definitely going on with this team and the poaching of players over the last few years. Overall the Dragons NRLW is in a poor state of affairs, a loss tonight to a team that hasnt won all season says it all.Plus on the channel 9 coverage the commentator said two of the Dragons better forwards have signed with the Bulldogs for 2025.
Think I read in the latest member's email from Webb that the NRLW team will be undergoing some sort of review, including the appointment of a new coach.Yep something is definitely going on with this team and the poaching of players over the last few years. Something is up DD, we should be way better than what we are, only time will tell if this review does any good, or a new coach.Think I read in the latest member's email from Webb that the NRLW team will be undergoing some sort of review, including the appointment of a new coach.
As you said Justa, the women's team is in a very average state right now.
The good news is the ladies NSW Origin under 19s team had something like 8 players from the Illawarra in it.
Indie Bostock will be elevated to the NRLW team, along with a few others in 2025.
We really need to start hanging onto this new crop of players, especially with the game expanding by another 2 teams next year.
Overall the situation of the women's rather poor season is a reflection of something pervading the whole of St George Illawarra. Player disharmony can be all pervading as typified by Lomax wanting out, Hunt wanted out and probably wants to again, a couple of the women going to the Dogs, etc.Something is up DD, we should be way better than what we are, only time will tell if this review does any good, or a new coach.
Is one of them number 11.Plus on the channel 9 coverage the commentator said two of the Dragons better forwards have signed with the Bulldogs for 2025.
Yet the Roosters can have Bremner,Sergis Boyle and Kelly.Yep something is definitely going on with this team and the poaching of players over the last few years. Overall the Dragons NRLW is in a poor state of affairs, a loss tonight to a team that hasnt won all season says it all.
I understand what you are saying Dave and agree, but one should consider how Hunt's behaviour has been since last year, not to mention his own form, or lack of it. Plus his constant demand of not wanting Griffin sacked. Yeah sure, we do need better players but as the captain of the Dragons you should be above what is happening or your perception of it and put the club and team first. How can he make these demands when he is primarily responsible for multiple losses that we have had, including the fact of not being able to mange games that we shouldn't have lost. Lets also not forget he's on roughly a million bucks a year.Overall the situation of the women's rather poor season is a reflection of something pervading the whole of St George Illawarra. What gives?
Hunt made a point last year that he wanted out and one of the reasons was that he was told that the Dragons were going to recruit some better players to make the team a bit more successful with results. Our results were better but maybe he expected much better.
The real reason why Lomax wanted out has still not been divulged and may never be.
Lawrie's form this year has dipped sharply from what it was last year. Is this a co-incidence of him either being injured still or that this all pervading thing has got to him, especially with his best mate going to the Eels?
I honestly feel that the last 3 games which we lost was due to a lot of disharmony, besides other reasons of form loss.
The club needs the injection of a good speaker of some high standing to bring the whole league of the men and women players in the St George Illawarra Club into more unity and harmony. It feels like the whole place is disunited.
Yeah justa, jeezus earning around the million dollar a year pay packet must mean that you are pretty good in any field of work and you would be expected to produce exceptional results in that field whatever it may be.I understand what you are saying Dave and agree, but one should consider how Hunt's behaviour has been since last year, not to mention his own form, or lack of it. The players they were talking about were the 8. Teka Katoa & 13. Alexis Toeania who have both signed with the dogs.Is one of them number 11.
Lendill?
I don't really think that actually played that big a part in it, while they did come from the Dogs they only played there for a year. So they have both been at the dragons longer then they were with the dogs. Also Lendill played for the Bulldogs as well in the Harvey Norman team, wouldn't surprise if she ends up there as well, to be fair the other two girls also played for the Bulldogs as well, so sort of homecoming in a sense, but they will be missed, by far our two best forwards #13 will only get better.
Also how much money is being thrown around by the new teams coming in, and it will happen again. This comp will remain unsettled for a few years yet, Soward or no Soward.I don't really think that actually played that big a part in it, while they did come from the Dogs they only played there for a year. There has been a recurring theme of our best players leaving under Sowards watch, whether that is entirely on him or the lack of interest shown in the womans space as a whole by the club I don't know. I suspect it is a bit of both but the fact that Kezie Apps who was the heart and soul of the club who was also heavily entrenched as an ambassador chose to up and leave instead of staying under sowie probably says it all.
They have a strong nursery in the Illawarra and the Dragons side while lacking any stars are showing more consistency this year, they should be the priority moving forward and finding a coaching team that can nurture and progress those girls while bringing in a few marquee experienced players to lead them.
That's the way to go moving forward.
Nice, Nutz!I'm seeing a total lack of professionalism right across the women's league...why?
Because apart from being paid peanuts they are not really professionals in the true sense of the word.
Most of the girls have 1 or 2 jobs outside of footy to make make ends meet.
None of us should be critical of the girls performances but should direct our criticism towards the governing body and the club's.
I am totally loving these girls playing. It's so entertaining but if you were to watch the Dragons v Tigers game last night it was error riddled. Party to blame on coaching/game plan in shitting wet weather and the other partly due poor footy IQ.
There were talks recently about expansion....how can that be when a lot of the girls can't even play at a fundamental standard.
I've said from the outset that we should have a smaller comp playing at a higher standard.
Once the NSWRLW Teams are stacked with professional players and are coached at a high standard then they could join the NRLW. I believe that there isn't a better example for the need to have a Promotion ~ Relegation System in the NRLW.
Keep 1st division at 6 teams and the 2nd division (NSWRL Women's comp) the rest of the club's.
Another way would be scrap the cap whilst its a relatively small comp and have a draft system to ensure top teams aren't loaded with all the marquee players.
There should be no limit to income including TPA's.
Is that a chat up line DavidNice, Nutz!
