I saw Jono Wright at Bunnings the other day. As he made his purchase, the cashier handed him his receipt and it slipped from his grasp onto the counter. He didn't bother scrambling to pick it up. He just shrugged his shoulders and trudged off, head down. We've got no chance if he's in our best 17.

Yes. Tigers will either fill right center or left wing from a few NYC graduates. Naquima will take the other spot.

A bigger forward will start at 13 than Halatau. That won't be our bench, we've bought and have better NYC players than Lovett and Buchanan (if everyone's fit Buchanan should be on the bench in NSW cup). Ballin won't be on the bench. Chee Kam, Edwards, Grant and the couple of QLD Cup boys will be fighting for a couple of spots.

I think that Manaia Cherrington will be on the bench, replacing Farah during the game. Ballin will play state cup and will only fill in when Farah is on S.O.O. Duty.

That's a really good attempt.

The Broncos for the most part picks itself. The only player you're forgetting about is Josh McGuire who will start in place of Thaiday with Timu playing in reserves. I doubt you'll see much of Caleb next year.

2-5 will change around a lot as well. A lot of Broncos fans like the look of Carlin Anderson and a lot have them in their 17.

I agree a good attempt, also agree with your assessment.

If Reed is injured early he will find it hard to get back into the side with Kahu and Roberts in the centres. My pick would be Oates and Anderson on the wing with Oates dropping back to the bench if Reed forces his way back in. If Oates drops back I can't find room for Wallace on a bench consisting of Nikorima, Oates, Thaiday and Ofahengaue.

For Souths- Dave Tyrell will be starting prop. Doesn't matter if you think he is a good player or not the fact is that he is one of Maguire's favourites. Tyrell is more there for defense to balance out a burgess twin who despite be able to put on a good hit sometimes struggles with lateral defense and probably aren't as good as at the wrestle as tyrell. Tyrell never has good metres stats at the end of the game, but he is usually the one to take the shit hit-ups ( early tackle hit ups, settling hit ups close to the line). I can't see maguire taking 2 smaller players in cook and Carter on the bench, Carter probably has the inside running as he is more versatile and can play in the back row. He'll probably come on to give mcinnes a breather during the middle part of the game, then stay on to give one of the back rowers a rest. Grant probably takes the open bench spot as maguire likes his big boppers on the bench

Wallace has earned a bench spot IMO. I'd have him there before Joe O

Eels

Gutherson instead of Morgan
Mau to Start with Moeroa on the bench
Pauli could miss out for a utility (De Gois, King or Pritchard)

If fit Pritchard is tipped to be a fav of Arthur

Fringe 8 side, we stay injury free we should get in comfortably though, lack of depth in the forwards is a worry.

Good summation. It's all well and good for fans to have the sides they want, but coaches have favourites that you know will be there no matter what.

Totally agree with G Burgess, makes some good runs but won't touch the ball before the 4th tackle, similar to Taupau. Without guys like Tyrell doing the dirty work he can't make those impact hit ups towards the end of the set.

If the Panthers can stay injury free ( they would have to be due some luck here ) they are an exciting team to watch. Fully fit I would have them in my top 8, even as high as 5th. I just hope Griffin doesn't fatten them all up and get them to play Griffin ball which would be a shame, hell I would buy you a beer to drown your sorrows if he did that to such a promising team.

On potential we're top 8 side, playing to the pontential is a different story though. If we can play consisent week in week out we can do good things next season.

I thought we had a shot this year on the back of 14 injuries f**ked us but they cant be the only excuse, didnt show any fight in crucial games, gave up to easy, halves didnt run the ball, foward pack was soft as f**k got beaten up the middle by the majority of teams we played. That has to change or we will see the same shit as this year.

Griffin is a worry. Hopefully he's just goulds puppet.

I look at alot of the issues that you mentioned, alot can stem from injuries, especially when there are alot and to key players. It's very hard to keep a side motivated etc when you pretty much have a reserve grade side running around.

I like the inclusion of Merritt to the pack, Seg back, Peachey etc. The one move I really do hope they do is Moylan to 6. He reminds me of a young Lockyer, his running game reminds me of Lockyer as well. Doesn't have the explosive speed of a Milford, or the big step, he just seems to run the right angles, hit the right holes, have impeccable timing and enough speed to get the job done, and like Lockyer he seems to have time and great vision. Moylan to 6 could spark Soward back into action and the Panthers along with it.

Out of interest, would Panthers fan like to see Coote come back and play 1 to free up Moylan and move him to 6?

Pure hypothetical and a question posed out of my own interest. Moylan is a gun, but like others, I can see his future in the halves sooner rather than later.

They have DWZ so I can't see them wanting Coote back.

Nooo @ that Warriors backline.

Robson has made a pretty huge sacrifice to come to the club - he didn't do that to sit in reserve grade, and he's likely a better fit to pair with Johnson than the TL (a useful hooker/utility masquerading as a half) or Lolohea (currently an exciting 1-5 option, has demonstrated pretty clearly he's not ready for the halves).

Ayshford & Wright are both second tier players. Lolohea dropping into the outside backs pushes one out, the other is pushed out by Hurrell. I'd also suggest that a fit Fusitua might be a better option than any of the above.

And Ligi Sao will probably snag a bench spot over Lisone or RFM. I'm not fussed about him though. Someone mentioned Gavet earlier in this thread - please god no.

Most look pretty set mate, maybe a couple changes i would make tho.

Brisbane Broncos
Josh McGuire -> IN , Caleb Timu -> OUT

Canberra Raiders
Kurt Baptiste -> IN , Jordan Rapana -> OUT (Leilua to centre, Waqa to wing, Baptiste onto bench)

Cronulla Sharks
Jayson Bukuya -> IN , David Fifita -> OUT (Prior to bench, Tagataese/Heighington to prop)

Gold Coast Titans
Im a Ash Taylor fan and him at #6 with Roberts on the bench appeals to me.

New Zealand Warriors
Jeff Robson & David Fusitua -> IN , Jonathon Wright & Solomona Kata -> OUT (Robson to 5/8th, Lolohea to centre, Fusitua to wing)

Parramatta Eels
John Folau & Clint Gutherson -> IN , Ryan Morgan & Bureta Faraimo -> OUT (Moeroa to bench, Ma'u to secondrow)

Penrith Panthers
Dallin Watene-Zelezniak -> IN, Waqa Blake -> OUT

St George-Illawarra
Eaun Aitken & Russell Packer -> IN, Peter Mata'utia & Jake Marketo -> OUT

Wests Tigers
Manaia Cherrington & Joel Edwards -> IN, Delousie Hoeter & Ava Seumanufagai -> OUT
(Lawrence to centre, Naiqama to wing, Ballin to lock, Edwards & Cherrington to bench)

Not a fan of Penrith but can't see them having DWZ as 18th man?

If he would be wing with Hiku centre or he will be fullback if Moylan replaces Wallace in the halves.

geez I can't see anything positive for Titans and Tigers fans. If they are full strength and still look abit rough then I am hoping they don't get any kind of serious injuries.

Are you a warriors man? If so, I wouldn't bag the Tigers depth. Your club has teams that can dominate lower grade comps, but do they make the step up to NRL very often?

I support the Sharks and happy to say we also are struggling in certain areas. Especially front row depth.

No need to get upset, as I stated I hope they don't get injuries and can be at full strength, if not they will struggle. If you can't see/appreciate that you are in for a rough old season.
