This is just following on from the Captain Clark's thread... which i inadvertantly hijacked with htis, so i thought i might post another thread about it. What do you beleive love is? what makes it love rather than mere infatuation. Where possible add personal examples if you can, I am just curious as to what the majority beleives.

I don't think love can be defined.
It's not something you can put into words.

U can't really put it into words, but i'll give it a try in any case. I think its where you can't think about anyone else bar the person in question. If they go away for a while (a week, two weeks, a month, whatever) you feel that a part of you is missing, and when they return, that "missing" part is then returned. I spose you cant think of anyone else bar them, you have great fun with them and it doesn't have to be all sexual. I don't know if that helps, but I tried!

its extremely hard to put into words, im struggling big time
but from personal experience i knew i loved the last girl i was seeing because she had this uncanny ability that no matter how down or unhappy i was, being around her made me smile and when i was around her, it seemed like all my problems didnt matter, was weird but i could lay in bed with her and just hugging and not saying a word for hours and i would be completely contempt with life and not in the slightest bit bored, also agree with jobdog on the missing part, i know when this chick i was seeing went on schoolies for 10 days, i just didnt feel myself... been a good 7 months since we split and im still dont think im over her... thats as good as i can come up with

woah... this is awesome stuff guys... i thought it would be interesting to see ppl's take on this and it has been. My personal view is almost exactly what jobdog said, but with the chick i thought i loved i felt the same way, but now i realise it is infatuation, so there must be an added condtion to the words of jobdog i think.

Maybe add to my effort that, as Raiduh said, they just have the ability to make u laugh and be happy no matter what. And when they leave you to go home (in my case), no sooner have they left that you miss them. Maybe thats just me being soft though :p

na definitely, its stupid but my ex and i used to have a game, after one of us left, it would be one to see who could refrain from contacting the other first... i think she won over all and it was usually a message after about 10 minutes reading something like "miss u already"... f**king sounds like something out of a tom hanks love story!
