My ideal fixture for round 1 any season is Magic Round in Melbourne before the AFL season starts

Do you think it would work?

It works in Brisbane and would work in Sydney because it is a good mix of local fans who love the sport, interstate fans willing to travel for the event and each day is anchored by 1 (or more) teams that are very popular in the local market.

In Melbourne you are talking about a small rugby league market with little interest outside of the storm.

The Storm and Warriors would draw well with the local league fans.

Outside of that you'd be looking to market to travelling fans and the Victorian event goer. If you can make it feel like their event they will go in droves.

Broncos, Cowboys, Dragons, Parra and even the Roosters have a decent sized fan base down here as well. The former two are the most likely to have their jerseys in Rebel Sport in the city center outside of the Storm and the Warriors
