Your NRL controversial take

Good time for one my apparently hot takes

Although I don't specifically care about expansion either way we absolutely do have the talent for more teams. We just don't have a system that allows for it to be properly identified, developed or distributed.
Valid comment. And sadly it'll stay that way under the current regime.

The six again rule is the best rule change of the 21st century. The Wrestlemania era and the games slow reaction to it fundamentally broke the game. Even if a penalty was blown it was better than a fast play the ball. It would result in games being played a crawl or games having a thousand penalties blown. The six again rule allows the refs to fundamentally punish a team for cheating without any potential upside for them.

I agree.

That Sharks/Storm game in 2018 was a joke and showed what happens when deliberate penalties are continually given away.

That said the six again is problematic in a games with a margin of two or less in the final minutes.

The penalty goal needs to be brought back in play to punish infringing teams in close games somehow.

Isn't this what about 90% of fans believe also? (Much to my disappointment)

But that's the NRL’s fault. By pumping up a useless origin series that serves no purpose they have completely killed the international game in Australia.

The kangaroos vs the kiwis would be so much better than the crap we've had to watch for the last 30 years. Origin died in my eyes a couple of years after Brisbane entered the comp.

Once more for the hard of thinking . . .

We
haven't
got
enough
talent
for
16
teams,
let
alone
20.

In a purely practical sense, I'd rather see 12 teams and a 24 round season where everyone plays everyone twice and gets 2 byes. In practice I can't see (and don't particularly want to see) 5 clubs being culled/merged.
I don't disagree with you but Souths are not coming last due to lack of talent... even Titans have some quality. Depth is more the issue, especially with so many injuries.

This. The final confirmation for me (not that I needed it) came with the furore that was created over DeVere getting stapled on the sideline. Those days are never coming back. A nothing series is now holding back the international game

If Parra paid Radradra what he is worth they would have won a Premiership this century. During peak Vlandys ball he would have been unstoppable.

People say this and it's probably true but they miss that at the time he left we would have been completely insane to match the French Rugby money. They gave him what f**ken Ponga is in now back then.

I think the other area it helps is it stops the “softer” calls becoming a talking point as the game no longer stops for a tired defender being overzealous in a tackle, it punishes them and moves the game along.

Players should be called by their number, not name

Contracts done before and after the season, can only sign free agents mid-season

Ban shitty stadium DJ's from blaring shitty music at EVERY break in play

Anzac day should be a standalone Test Match between NZ and AUS, hence the name ANZAC

Origin week stand alone, everyone has byes, even number of teams only to stop other useless byes

There’s enough playing talent for 20 or more teams.

The problem is there’s not enough coaching talent. It’s why Wayne Bennett will still be coaching when he’s nothing but a shrivelled husk. There’s nobody banging down the door for a first grade job.

Seven tackle sets suck especially from a dead ball. I used to love bombs to the in goal, was exciting.

6 agains should only be called after the second tackle, if tackle one or two the. It should be a penalty.
All 6 agains should have to have a video snippet with the ref voicing over what it was for after the game/Mondays to allow for more consistency and referee accountability. I still think that sometimes they seem to be bias with teams or players they penalise with 6 agains.
