Has to be Christchurch, South Island or Wellington.
There was a video posted recently interviewing one of the people involved in the WA government working group. He didn't seem to think they'd be using the Pirates branding for their bid.West Coast is used by Australian Fumbleball League
Western Australia is too long
Perth Pirates sounds a bit shit
Western (as in Western Reds) is too vague a name
WA Pirates sounds about right
Or follow the Warriors and Dolphins lead and call them the 'The Pirates' or the 'Cash Converters Pirates' or... The Bears
Perth Rat VernomI haven’t put my finger on my favourite. I don’t like West Coast as it is just the same as the AFL team. Then I don’t like Wests or Western on their own.
I don’t mind it being an abbreviation.
W.A.
Mix it with my favourite moniker and you have the:
W.A. Venom
Brisbane Tigers it is then. The opposite of what AFL Red wants.
Pretty sure the fella who designed the Gold Coast Titans logo is also the one who designed the West Coast Pirates logo too. There was a video posted recently interviewing one of the people involved in the WA government working group. IMO it's a good thing to start fresh (or go with the Reds).
I remember when it was launched (still have my WC Pirates football from the ~2012 membership) and it was a similar situation to the Titans, the name was picked out from a few designs that a certain logo designer had already created.
Perth deserves something that is unique but also has a bit of thought behind it.
Poo on earth,... perf! The opposite of what AFL Red wants.
Is that the same guy that just copied and pasted the NFLs Tennessee Titans logo?Pretty sure the fella who designed the Gold Coast Titans logo is also the one who designed the West Coast Pirates logo too.
I still have my WCP foundation member football too!
Regarding the club's name going forward: While I have very little insider knowledge, I do know that the West Coast Pirates name, logo, and branding is not owned by NRLWA, as I would have thought they would. I also know that the WCP name, ect, was 'under review' a couple of years ago, with the insinuation that it would not be in use when the official bid is made public.
Time will tell.
Personally, the 'WA' name is my choice, but it kinda depends on what the rest of the chosen name is.
I'd love for my logo to be in the NRL! Haha!Is that the same guy that just copied and pasted the NFLs Tennessee Titans logo?
You know what would really be a good idea, just promote the Joondaloop Giants, that logo you got as your avatar is pretty good colors are pretty good too, just add Black as a main 3rd color, West Coast Giants, based in joondaloop,
I'd love for my logo to be in the NRL! Haha!
'Giants' would be a different name than just trying to find an emblem that's uniquely WA (which not many other sporting teams try to do anyway), however I doubt the bid team will want to go with an emblem from a local team here (especially as nearly all the emblems of local teams here are the same as established NRL teams: Roosters, Sharks, Sea Eagles, Bulldogs, Storm, Titans, Tigers, Rabbitohs, Bears - if you want to call them 'established'. Only Giants, Lions, and Serpents are non-NRL emblems).
My money will be on a new name for the new team. Not Reds, not Pirates, and not a name from an existing NRLWA team.
But again, time will tell.
yeh the Pirates TM is owned by 'Pirates Rugby League Club Pty Ltd' and address is an accounts in West Perth. I'm guessing Cumins owns it?Pretty sure the fella who designed the Gold Coast Titans logo is also the one who designed the West Coast Pirates logo too.

Perth Kingston Rovers?I'd love for my logo to be in the NRL! Haha!
